KF2 Challenges Explained - Daily, Weekly, Seasonal and the Vault

This guide (in Russian, marked by the author as no longer current) describes how the challenge system of Killing Floor 2 worked when it was introduced: periods, rewards, the vault and the weekly modifiers. Treat the numbers as historical. For event objectives in practice see Krampus Christmas 2017 objectives.

Overview

Challenges are tasks available for a limited time that give rewards depending on the type. By period they are daily, weekly and seasonal. Daily ones refresh every day at 03:00 Moscow time, the weekly one changes each Wednesday at the same time, and seasonal ones are launched by the developers for events and holidays.

Daily challenges

You get three per day, each paying 50,000 dosh. Types include:

  • Character: play any map on any difficulty as a given character. The task text says "play", but you actually have to finish the map and survive the last wave.
  • Map: complete a given map on a given difficulty (a higher difficulty also counts).
  • PvP: damage or kill a player as a given Zed.
  • Zeds: kill N Zeds of a type.
  • Weapon damage: deal N damage with a weapon. For knives, only weapons with "knife" in the name count, and the lawn mower blade works too.
  • Experience: earn N experience with a perk.

Weekly challenges

A weekly challenge pays 500,000 dosh plus an item. Several kinds existed:

Weekly challenge 1 A weekly modifier challenge.

To complete this one without trouble, deal big damage immediately so Zeds do not shrink in size.

Weekly challenge 2 Another weekly challenge.

Sharpshooters and marksmen make it easier. Zeds take fire or explosion damage only if it hits the head.

Weekly challenge 3 A challenge with enlarged heads.

Zeds, like players, have bigger head hitboxes, but more damage to the head is needed to remove it.

Weekly challenge 4 A mini-Fleshpound challenge.

The concentration of mini-Fleshpounds is higher. A Demolitionist on the team makes it easier.

Seasonal challenges

Seasonal challenges make you very rich if you finish every task. Each consists of several tasks paying 150,000 dosh, and completing all gives cosmetic items. At the time of writing a test of such a challenge was running in the beta branch.

The vault

The vault stores all the dosh you earn. Every 500,000 dosh earns one vault chest. Items from these chests cannot be sold on the market, so just collect what you like. Once all slots are filled they move to the background and you can fill new ones; chests do not change. After a chest is granted the game says you will receive it on your next launch, but it appears in your inventory sooner if you browse the store or check your Steam inventory.
