KF2 Survivalist Build: Pulverizer, Medic Missile and Crossbow
This is a Russian-language community build, translated and paraphrased. It builds a flexible Survivalist around a heavy melee weapon, a healing rocket launcher and a crossbow. The author says it wins through versatility: it needs less skill, is fun, levels quickly and works from level 10. Other builds: OP Survivalist and the Survivalist notes in leveling all perks.
Four strengths
- High movement speed.
- Huge damage.
- Healing for you and teammates.
- Stunning enemies.
Weapons
Starting kit: the Combo (saves ammo money and avoids a trip to the trader at the start) and a stun grenade, which explodes faster than other grenades and reliably staggers enemies.
Starting loadout options.
Main weapons:
Pulverizer.
Medic Missile.
Crossbow.
- Pulverizer is the primary weapon. Small Zeds die to light attacks, and a Siren, Bloat or Rioter dies in one hit if it lands on the head. Large Zeds should be killed with charged heavy attacks. A Mini-Fleshpound dies from one, and a Fleshpound or Scrake from two. If you hit a calm Fleshpound, you take no damage.
- Medic Missile is a secondary weapon with decent ranged damage and probably the best heal: 50 HP per projectile, which solves the problem of low HP.
- Crossbow fills the remaining weight (7 blocks); the best Demolitionist weapons are the heaviest, and anything else from other classes will hardly compare to the Pulverizer. Support/Tech shotguns are forgotten because of the Pulverizer, and Commando, Medic and SWAT weapons are not worth mentioning. You can upgrade only one of the Pulverizer or the launcher once.
Skills
The skill menu used for the build.
- Level 5, Heavy Weapons Training: fast reload for the Pulverizer and Crossbow. The Medic Missile is not tied to Demolitionist but already reloads well.
- Level 10, Melee Expert: more run speed and damage with the Pulverizer. With this skill alone you almost become a Berserker. Skip the left skill (Medic Training), because the launcher heals 100%, not 30%, and dart weapons are weak.
- Level 15, Weapon Harness: more carry weight, used for the Crossbow. The left skill suits teams with a Medic, so you can drop the launcher for more supplies.
- Level 20, Make Some Boom: bigger blast radius and 50% explosive resistance. It also protects against Bombardier Elites, Patriarch rockets, Hans's grenades, King Fleshpound hits, Husk suicides and Boom flashes.
- Level 25, Lockdown or Madman: mostly for shooters, but both can be useful if you shoot the Crossbow before using the Pulverizer.
Gameplay
Solo purchase order. Below level 10, buy the Crossbow on wave 2, then the Medic Missile, because the Pulverizer is slow and weak at those levels. From level 10, buy the Pulverizer first, then the launcher, and the Crossbow last after level 15.
Combo: one-shots small Zeds with light attacks, and Berserkers if on the head. A heavy attack can one-shot Bloat, Husk, Siren, Double Berserker and Rioter to the head. On wave 2, a Mini-Fleshpound or Scrake may appear. A Fleshpound dies from one heavy hit plus one stun grenade, and Scrakes are stabbed last.
Pulverizer: light attacks and the left-click kill small and medium Zeds to the head. Large Zeds:
| Zed | Charged heavy hits |
|---|---|
| Mini-Fleshpound | 1 |
| Fleshpound | 2 |
| Scrake | 2 |
Crossbow (hits to vulnerable spots): 2 bolts for each of Mini-Fleshpound, Fleshpound and Scrake. Medic Missile: 1 rocket for a Mini-Fleshpound, 2 for a Fleshpound, 2 for a Scrake.
If you spend ammo only on large Zeds, you never run short of charges.
Multiplayer note
The author's team section is still under construction. It is planned to add a short description (when to take what and what kills whom), demo gameplay at Hell on Earth with 6 players, and a note on network play. He had a low-level Survivalist because of Prestige and promised to finish after level 25.
Closing words
With so many pluses this class could even work as its own class, but with great power comes great responsibility: retreat in time and avoid playing solo recklessly. Play carefully and it will be as useful as any other class.
FAQ
- From what level does this build work?
- From Survivalist level 10, because the key melee skill unlocks at 10. Below level 10 the author suggests buying the Crossbow on wave 2 and the Medic Missile after it, since the Pulverizer is slow and weak at low levels.
- How many hits does the Pulverizer need for large Zeds?
- According to the author: one charged heavy hit for a Mini-Fleshpound, two for a Fleshpound and two for a Scrake.
