Destroyer: Player Guide

The orc - a mighty warrior

A player guide to the Destroyer, the orc warrior with huge damage and a massive HP pool. Below: the leveling route by level, armor and weapon choices, how to use the skills, PvP and the siege role.

Leveling route

Up to level 20 leveling a Destroyer is no different from other fighters: up to level 10 in the orc village, then in the Town of Gludio.

LevelsWhere to level
20-21After the first profession - around the Town of Dion
21-28Execution Ground
28-40Floran. There is a risk: Floran is a PK village and leveling there is dangerous, but it is worth it. If Floran does not work out, take a buffer into your party and go to the catacombs in the Execution Ground. If the teleport inside does not work, take the Seven Signs quest in town. Level there until 40
40-43Solo - Cemetery or Dragon Valley, or with two friends - Enchanted Valley. Enchanted Valley is the best: lots of money; Dragon Valley drops resources
43-52/55Enchanted Valley anyway - leveling should be fast and productive. Best with a buffer (Shillien Elder or Prophet) or a Bishop
52/55-58/60Forsaken Plains. Leveling may be slower than in Enchanted Valley at first, but there are many expensive resources and decent money. For fast leveling take a Spellsinger or a Dark Elf (fighter or damage dealer, it does not matter - their main strength is powerful hits and Hex): with them leveling is almost nonstop. Better stay until 60 - that is when the Destroyer gets a new strike
60-70Lair of Antharas, Catacomb of the Witch or Saints Necropolis. In all three cases you need a party: a Dark Elf (1), a Bishop or Prophet, and 2 dagger users or Gladiators in any combination
70+Only Saints Necropolis. Best in a party with a Shillien Knight: he has Hex, Power Break and cubics. Power Break should be cast only when more than one mob attacks

On buffers in Enchanted Valley: an Elven Elder is less useful for leveling than a Prophet - it has no HP and MP buffs - and less effective than a Shillien Elder - it has no critical damage buff. A Bishop's buffs will mostly do, but a Bishop is a healer first, not a buffer.

Equipment

Up to level 20 a future Destroyer can level with practically anything (the author leveled in the Wooden Set with a sword). But after 20 he wears only heavy or only light armor:

  • Heavy armor without a shield - Brigandine, with Saber*Saber duals or a Claymore two-handed sword.
  • A set with a shield - Tarbar.
  • Light armor with a polearm - top D-grade armor (Salamander) and any polearm from 1.2 million.

After level 40 - definitely heavy armor and a two-hander, although some level with an axe and shield. Remember: the orc is built for the two-handed sword, not the axe and shield - he has no passive for shield block chance. The axe is needed only for stuns (although the stun saves you while leveling, the two-hander simply does enormous damage). There is no point using attack skills while leveling: they are not very strong and cost a lot of mana - they are only for PvP.

  • The Flamberge two-handed sword costs about 3.5 million - if you planned ahead, you should have at least that much. If not, sell resources, and sell your D-grade gear as dearly as possible (in private stores always describe your armor's merits).
  • Armor - Composite Armor or Full Plate Armor. Chain Armor is not worth buying, unless cheap from a player.
  • So by level 43 you should be in C-grade (not counting jewelry).
  • If you still want an axe (you can level with it up to 60), take the Full Plate Set or the Composite Set.
  • Up to level 52 try to wear top gloves and boots for extra defense.
  • After 52 you can wear any B-grade set, but the author advises against Doom: it takes STR and gives HP, of which the Destroyer already has plenty. For weapons - Art of Battle Axe or Great Sword. Put an SA on crits or HP.
  • Level 61 - definitely the Tallum Set and Dragon Slayer. Give the Dragon Slayer an HP SA and you become a "mega-HP barrel".

Skills: how and where to use them

It is very simple: apply a stun and turn on the main skill - Rage. It raises damage enormously and the mob dies almost instantly. When HP gets low, use Guts and Battle Roar - you get a sea of defense and enough HP to outlast the mob. That is the whole life of an axe Destroyer.

With a two-hander it is even simpler: turn on Rage and just keep hitting the mob until it finally drops. After level 60 you get a strike that costs HP and is used only with a two-hander. Use it only when more than one mob attacks you and Battle Roar and Rage have recharged.

PvP

In PvP the Destroyer is a mage killer (except for summoners and Spellsingers). The tactic is simple: turn on Lionheart and Rage, take out the axe, stun, switch to the two-hander - and then come Doom and Fatal Strike. A mage dies after 2-3 such combos.

  • Against a tank it is harder and takes some skill. The idea is that the tank brings your HP down to 30%, you turn on Guts and Battle Roar, your defense and HP soar, and the tank hits you for 20-30 damage. Meanwhile you hit him with the same combo.
  • Against a dagger user - practically the same, but it makes sense to turn on accuracy and Rage.

The Destroyer in sieges

In sieges the Destroyer is good at breakthroughs (thanks to his large HP) and at protecting archers from enemy tanks and mages (again thanks to HP). The tactic is the same as in PvP, but you should have a Bishop in your party so you do not die too quickly. Try to explain this to your clan leader.

Remember: the Destroyer is not a tank but a mighty warrior with tremendous damage and tons of HP. A skilled Destroyer kills any class, especially mages.
