Killing Floor Development Materials: Music and Beta
This page covers development materials of Killing Floor: music that never made it into any build and an early version of a weapon shown before release. For the overall timeline of the game, from the UT2004 mod to retail, see development history. Other leftovers are collected in Killing Floor cut content, and the mod itself on the prototype page.
Music
The game's composer, zYnthetic, has released several unused tracks, works in progress and alternate versions of songs. None of them appear in any build of the game.
The first four are on the album ERA, together with music that was only used in KF Mod:
- Discord Bells
- Trepak - The Twisted Distort
- Untitled Scratch 2011
- Abandon v2
The next two are on the album KVTTING FLOOR, which is otherwise mostly early or unused Killing Floor 2 music:
- [2014] (xx2_Ambient_02_seq_001)
- [2015] (xxTransit_Ambient01)
The unfinished Transit track may actually have been written for Killing Floor 2, since the album dates it to 2015. Its "Transit" name makes that less certain, and the question is still open.
All six tracks can be played on the TCRF page. The soundtrack that did ship is covered in soundtrack and audio design.
Weapons
Closed beta Tommy Gun
On April 12, 2012, IJC released a video showing off the Tommy Gun. It is hard to tell whether the model is the same one, but the reload animation is visibly different. The weapon did not enter the game until October of that year, with the Hillbilly Horror update.
The Tommy Gun may originally have been meant as a publicly downloadable mutator weapon, like IJC's first weapon pack. This version even predates that first pack being added to the game (July 5, 2012, with Summer Sideshow: Hellride).
The closed beta version could once be downloaded, but it is now lost media.
