Types of Killing Floor 2 Players You Will Meet (Humor Guide)
This guide is written purely for fun, based on what the author calls hard-to-deny facts about public KF2 lobbies. It never intends to insult any perk or player, and the writer apologises for grammar mistakes. The memes in the original are omitted here; what remains is the list of types, which also doubles as an etiquette checklist. For serious team advice see team expectations.
The lone wolf
They stray far from teammates, usually with over 1,000 hours and plenty of knowledge about Zed spawn areas. They mostly play Berserker, Commando or Gunslinger, sometimes Medic. They tend to be wannabe elites who dislike team decisions to camp, or who are simply annoyed by teammates who never share Dosh. Teammates think they are doing something clever; in practice they often run off alone and end up dead.
The Dosh thrower
One of the nicest people you can meet. They rain down cash without a second thought, often Berserkers, Firebugs and Medics at progressing levels. The author says these players are the reason the game still exists.
The Ladies Man
Appears in voice chat when a female player complains about not getting Dosh or healing, then supplies everything she needs, even at the expense of the rest of the team. Otherwise silent and docile.
"I need Dosh" spammers
Giving Dosh from wave 4 onward is normal, but some players spam requests from wave 2, are given a Medic pistol instead, throw it back asking for Dosh, then quit. The author notes these show up in numbers when the game is on discount.
The sacrificing type
When the lobby is full and nobody wants to be a Medic, one player gives up their preferred perk and daily progress to be the Medic, sometimes outliving the team and facing the boss alone.
The "This is how I play, leave if you do not like it" type
A second Medic when the team already has one, who teams up with a Berserker and only focuses on kills, leaving others untreated, and justifies it with that phrase.
"My level does not matter, only my skill does"
Common during discounts. These players skip Normal, Hard and Suicidal and go straight to Hell on Earth with level 1, 5 or 13 perks, often Firebug or Survivalist, enrage Zeds and get the team killed. HoE expects roughly level 20 to 25. The sensible reaction is leaving; the expected outcome is a vote kick, which feels bad but is fair. As the only low-level player you also become the easy target of blame.
The kill stealer
Waits until you have a Fleshpound or Scrake at 99% and finishes it just to show big kills on the scoreboard.
Dosh robbers and weapon stealers
In 32 or 64 player servers, some players zig-zag at the trader to absorb Dosh meant for others, or hoard money and ignore requests. Weapon stealers grab guns dropped for dead teammates; shoot them if friendly fire is on, jokes the author.
Demo spammers
Sitting in a safe high spot, Demolitionists are great for taking down Fleshpounds and hitting Scrakes with rockets, but some spam M79 grenades on two or three Cysts, driving Berserkers and gun perks away. The author also mentions the panic of escaping a Zed time nuclear blast, and players who check the scoreboard after the match for highest kills and damage.
The emote type
Fun and innocent, until they emote during Zed time with a Fleshpound, Scrake or Gorefast approaching.
"Has left the game"
Four reasons the author lists for leaving mid-match: a player who lost or had their weapon stolen and nobody helped; one who is annoyed or bored and leaves, dropping weapons and Dosh for teammates; one who waits for the trader to close and then leaves; and the one who dies first and quits. There are also players who leave in Endless mode as soon as they receive their golden D.A.R.
The enraging type
Firebugs who burn every Fleshpound and Scrake and then run to the team with the enraged Zed in tow. The Firebug defence that ground fire slows big Zeds does not impress anyone.
The author's closing request
Donate, help, heal, and if you are none of those, at least be humble. Also, check how many times someone has stolen your Medic rifle.
