KF2: How to Predict the Boss Before the Final Wave
In Killing Floor 2 the boss of the final wave is picked at the start of the match, but the game never tells you which one it is. A single console command reveals it, which lets you change perk or loadout before the last wave instead of finding out when the boss spawns.
The command
Open the in-game console (the tilde key opens the full console, F3 opens the small one), paste the line below and press Enter:
getall kfgamereplicationinfo bossindex
The game prints a line of text. Only the number at the very end matters.
The last number of the output is the boss index. In this example it is 3, so the boss is the Abomination.
| Index | Boss |
|---|---|
| 0 | Hans Volter |
| 1 | Patriarch |
| 2 | King Fleshpound |
| 3 | Abomination |
| 4 | Matriarch |
For background on each boss see KF2 bosses, and for other commands see the console commands list.
Survival mode
Use the command as described above. The index it prints is the boss of the final wave.
Objective mode
The command works on three Objective maps:
- Outpost: boss wave 7
- Bioticslab: boss wave 8
- Steam Fortress: boss wave 10
The remaining maps have a scripted boss, so the command is not needed:
- Nuked: Hans Volter, boss wave 8
- Zed Landing: King Fleshpound, boss wave 8
- Santa's Workshop: Abomination, boss wave 11
Santa's Workshop is technically a Survival map, but it follows the Objective formula and always ends with the same boss, so it is listed here.
Endless mode
Run the same command after each boss dies to see which boss is coming next.
Is it cheating?
The guide author does not consider this a cheat: it only reads a value from the game, and if it were a cheat the developers would have blocked console access to it. Some players prefer to keep the boss as a surprise, in which case simply skip the command. Note that the console is also used for settings, and most commands that change gameplay do not work on a server you do not own.
