KF2 Poundemonium Weekly: Perks, Maps and Team Comps

Poundemonium is the weekly outbreak where Fleshpounds dominate: smaller "Quarter Pound" Fleshpounds fill the waves, and the King Fleshpound is the boss. This guide sums up what worked for its author. For the boss itself see how to spawn the King Fleshpound, and for the other weeklies the outbreak modes guide.

Which perks to use

Because most of the game is spent against Fleshpounds, some perks are simply worse here. The author's ranking:

Heavily recommended

  • Berserker. Good at tanking the Quarter Pounds, deals good damage and can act as a decoy when things get rough.
  • Medic. Heals teammates, which the Berserker badly needs; healing grenades give great sustain.
  • Demolitionist. High and area damage; kills Quarter Pounds quickly and thins numbers.

Recommended

  • Support. Supplies ammo, makes a good frontline for damage dealers and does decent damage.
  • Firebug. Handles the trash ZEDs so the Demolitionist and Berserker can focus on Quarter Pounds; the microwave gun does decent damage to them.
  • Sharpshooter. Good damage, but less reliable than the other damage classes.

Pick open maps so the team has room to run from Fleshpounds, since it is easy to be overwhelmed and cornered. The author recommends Nuked, Outpost and Black Forest. Quarter Pounds are small, but have more HP than other ZEDs and hit hard.

Viable team compositions

  • Team 1 (the author's most successful): Berserker, Medic, Support, Support, Demolitionist, Demolitionist.
  • Team 2 (varied playstyles, good with a coordinated team): Berserker, Medic, Firebug, Support, Demolitionist, Sharpshooter.
  • Team 3: three Berserkers and three Medics. Often seen with premade teams; the author finds it less viable but some players love it.

Strategies for the boss

The wave strategy is simple: focus the Quarter Pounds. For the King Fleshpound the author found two approaches.

  1. Slower and safer (but still risky). The Berserker and Medic keep the King occupied while damage dealers clear Quarter Pounds. It needs strong individual play, because one death is a major setback, so play it with friends.
  2. Riskier but more successful with randoms. Kite the King and kill only the Quarter Pounds that block the kiting route or stand in front of the main target. The team does not have to split, which makes it easier with strangers, but teamwork is still required.

Good luck killing the ZEDs.
