KF2 General Crash Fixes: Reset Config and Share Launch.log

Most Killing Floor 2 launch crashes come from corrupted configuration. These general fixes are ordered from least to most destructive, so follow them in order and restart the game after each. For other startup problems see startup crashes troubleshooting.

1. Corrupted engine config

  1. Open Documents/My Games/KillingFloor2/Config.
  2. Back up and delete KFEngine.ini.
  3. Restart the game.

This fixes most cases.

2. Corrupted config folder

  1. Open Documents/My Games/KillingFloor2.
  2. Back up and delete the folder named Config. This resets your in-game settings, so try step 1 first.
  3. Restart the game.
  4. To keep your key bindings, copy KFInput.ini from the backup into the newly generated Config folder.

3. Corrupted user files

If the game still will not start:

  1. Open Documents/My Games/KillingFloor2.
  2. Delete the folder KillingFloor2 inside it.
  3. Restart the game.

4. Share your crash log

If the problem persists, send the log to whoever is helping you:

  1. Open Documents/My Games/KillingFloor2/Logs.
  2. Open Launch.log, which holds the most recent crash log, and copy its contents.
  3. Paste the text into pastebin.com, generate the paste and share the URL.

The original author also points to a larger community collection of fixes and to the game's community manager as a last resort.
