KF2 Mod: Killing Floor 1 Soundtrack for Killing Floor 2
Players who miss the original Killing Floor soundtrack can swap the boss and wave music in Killing Floor 2 for KF1-style tracks with this community audio mod. The author built it after finding other music mods too quiet, outdated or missing replacements for newer bosses, and shares both the install steps and what is left untouched. See also where to buy the KF1 soundtrack and soundtrack and audio design.
What it does
The mod replaces all the non-zYnthetic vocal combat tracks of the base game, which is most of the music. There were not enough KF1 tracks to cover everything, so a few tracks that did not appear in KF1 (also by zYnthetic) were used and fit the tone. Holiday music is also covered, and the author planned to replace the Halloween tracks when that update arrived.
Install
- Download the mod archive from the author's link on the original guide page.
- Open your KF2 audio folder,
KFGame\BrewedPC\WwiseAudio\Windowsin the game directory (right-click the game in Steam, Properties, Browse local files). - For an easier uninstall you can use
Documents\My Games\KillingFloor2\KFGame\Published\BrewedPC\WwiseAudio\Windowsinstead; create the path if it does not exist. - Open the SFX folder in the archive and drop its contents (language folders and files with numeric names) into that path, replacing everything. Ignore the Wwise.dat file in the archive.
- In the game's audio options enable the vocal tracks, because the mod only replaces vocal songs.
Uninstall
If you installed into the game directory, delete the .wem files and verify the game files in Steam to restore the vanilla ones (or restore your backup). If you used the Documents path, just delete the .wem files.
Known problems
Some tracks stop at the wrong moment, so you may wait for the next track and hear silence for a while. Fixing it would mean extending each track to the original song length and checking every loop, which the author considered too time-consuming. If you get crashes on a specific boss or song, report them and say whether they started only after installing the mod.
What is not replaced
The zYnthetic vocal tracks of the base game stay as they are, such as Death Marches, Plague Unit, Bloodlust, Incarnate, Hydra, Image Corruptor, By The Throat, Relentless, Harbinger Of Destruction, To The Slaughter, Tyrant and Target Priority.
