KF2 Tankzerker Build: Berserker Wall With Bone Crusher (Patch 1052, Outdated)
A historical Berserker build from the time of patch 1052. The author called it "Tankzerker" and said it only works when you hold a position, not while kiting. He later marked the guide "NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL", so read it as a record of how the meta looked then. For current Berserker advice use the guides linked at the end.
Skills used
- Dreadnought - important when you are the wall of the team; recommended over Skirmisher.
- Vampire - passive +4 health per kill and +20% attack speed. If your Medic is busy you can heal a lot by crouching and hitting ZEDs. Swap to Butcher for bosses.
- Parry - preferred over Resistance because a parry gives +40% resistance to all incoming damage, +35% attack damage and +5% attack speed. If you do not know how to parry, use Resistance instead.
- Smash - can be swapped with Massacre depending on the situation; the author used Smash most of the time.
- ZED Time: Spartan - a must-have with the Berserker, and it stacks well with Massacre.
Weapons
- Use your starting weapon through waves 1 to 3, then buy the Zweihander for better crowd control.
- Rush the Bone Crusher. The author calls it ridiculously strong: you can block everything except Bloat vomit, and it is the core of the tank build. Use its bash attack for crowd control.
- Do not buy armor, he says it does not work for this build. Give the 300 Dosh to your Medic instead.
How the maths works
With the skills above and the Bone Crusher, while you are in the parry effect you get:
- +15% damage resistance (passive)
- +40% resistance (parry)
- Total +55%, meaning you negate more than half of all damage taken.
A Medic with Coagulant Booster adds up to 30% more resistance that stacks with yours, for about 85% in total. The Dreadnought movement speed penalty compared with Skirmisher is offset if the Medic stacks Adrenaline Shot for up to +30% movement speed, which is useful if you get separated from the team.
The author reported that on Hell on Earth with a full team he took only about 13 to 15 damage from a raging Fleshpound (measured, no armor), and could tank three Fleshpounds at once.
Tanking bosses
- Vampire only helps against crowd control; it does nothing against Hans or the Patriarch. Switch to Butcher for +20% attack speed and +25% damage.
- Keep the Bone Crusher to parry bullets and rockets (yes, Patriarch rockets can be parried). This is good for aggro-blocking, redirecting boss attention to save a teammate.
- Against Hans you take almost no bullet damage while parrying with healing stacked (about 3 HP, which the Medic can negate).
- The author said both bosses were broken in this patch, and that the only real counter is to not let your Medic die.
