KF2 Class and Weapon Tier List (Russian Community Guide)
A Russian community tier-style guide to the classes (perks) of Killing Floor 2 and their weapons, updated in March 2025. For each class the author gives usefulness, required skill, a role label (support, assault, shooter), a recommended skill tree as a screenshot and a ranking of weapons as a screenshot. Opinions are the author's own and based on Hell on Earth play; treat them as one player's view. Compare with the weapons tier list and the perk descriptions.
Berserker (support role)
Usefulness: low or high. Skill requirement: high. Role: support.
The author calls Berserker the most neglected class, nerfed many times since the beta, and says it cannot reliably handle a Scrake by itself but tanks well with the Katana and good parrying. The Katana is the pick because it has the fastest swing and the fastest parry, even cancelling an attack instantly. You must parry, otherwise there is no point in playing the class. He suggests binding parry to an extra mouse button instead of the scroll wheel.
Recommended Berserker skills.
Berserker weapon ranking; Ion Thruster and Tesla Launcher come out best.
Commando (assault)
Usefulness: medium. Skill: medium. Universal thanks to its rifles and perks. Choose the level 25 skill by what you meet more in Zed Time: reloads or Fleshpounds.
Recommended Commando skills.
Commando weapon ranking: SCAR, MG3 and the minigun on top.
Support (assault)
Usefulness: high. Skill: medium. A good class that can face any ZED in direct combat and also hands out ammo. It can kill a Scrake, a Siren, or deal a lot of damage to a Fleshpound.
Recommended Support skills.
Armor Piercing Shot is practically useless beyond 3 meters, while the extra 50 percent tightness of Tight Choke gives a big advantage at any range, though it needs better aim. For the last skill, pick the first option if you often get caught reloading in Zed Time, otherwise the second.
Support weapon ranking: AA-12 and the Shockgun best.
The AA-12 and the S12 Shockgun are the clear best; the Doomstick is also good, though holding the trigger is easier and more fun. Their large ammo pool matters too, since if you are the only Support on the map you have to run to an ammo box to refill.
Field Medic (support)
Usefulness: high. Skill: high. The medic's priority is healing; if you disagree, do not pick this class.
Recommended Field Medic skills.
- HRG Healer ("vacuum") with both a healing spray and darts is a great pick for any medic, new or experienced.
- Hemoclobber has the best dart healing, kills robots well and is far better in combat than the assault rifles or SMGs that the class does not need, but it is weak at point-blank range.
- RPG is a decent option on medium-sized maps if your aim is good, and the mine reconstructor is better if the team defends one spot.
- A medic shotgun is not ideal but acceptable.
Demolitionist (assault)
Usefulness: high. Skill: low. The task is to hit big groups or the biggest ZEDs; Scrakes and Fleshpounds are the priority targets.
Recommended Demolitionist skills.
The left branch of the level 10 and 20 skills is for boss fights only.
Demolitionist weapon ranking.
The Mutant leads in damage per second and is the author's boss-fight pick. He does not recommend the M32 because its ammo use is too high compared to the RPG. The worst: M79 (good only in wave 2 when you need anything better than the starting pistol), the Shrapnel Cannon, Gravity Imploder, C4, HRG Boomy and HRG Tommy Boom. Take any of the rest.
Firebug (assault)
Usefulness: high. Skill: low. Best when you need to kill a lot for a long time.
Recommended Firebug skills.
Choose the second skill by map size: custom-map servers need the left branch, while on small maps and especially when defending a point with six players the right one is the only option. The last tier makes little difference.
Firebug weapon ranking.
The Spitfire, HRG Dragon's Breath and the Shrapnel Cannon are good, and about 80 percent of play will be with the Spitfire because it is cheap, effective and has plenty of cheap ammo. An update in March 2025 removed the Helios recommendation.
Gunslinger (shooter)
Usefulness: medium. Skill: medium. The class can deal with every ZED (except Fleshpounds, fixable with good aim and the right-branch second skill) but its magazine capacities are catastrophically low on Hell on Earth, so reloads are constant. Strong guns still make it a good contributor: Frost Fangs counter Scrakes, and Magnums can take down a Fleshpound with about 15 headshot rounds in ideal conditions.
Recommended Gunslinger skills.
Choose the second-branch skill by how confident you are in your aim.
Gunslinger weapon ranking.
By damage per second, the Piranha and Magnum lead. Deagles, Rhino, Frost Fang and Spitfires are good constant-use choices, and you should combine guns as you see fit.
Sharpshooter (shooter)
Usefulness: low or very high. Skill: high. The author argues the left skill branch is made for the M99 but that its only strength is one-shotting Scrakes, and that in a public match you never one-shot a Fleshpound with the M99. The right branch has universally useful skills but loses headshot damage. In skilled hands it kills large ZEDs quickly, but magazine sizes are too small for medium ZEDs and ammo too low for weak ones. It is worth picking on large maps or with a coordinated team that does not kite Fleshpounds. On bosses the author calls the class useless, since even the Berserker can tank under healing.
SWAT (shooter)
Usefulness: medium. Skill: medium. The author balanced skills between survivability and combat efficiency.
Recommended SWAT skills.
SWAT weapon ranking: HRG Stunner, Kriss and G36C best.
The class is as ordinary as it gets: no damage perks, but a double-magazine passive and plenty of useful skills.
