KF2 ZED Bestiary (Portuguese Guide): Lore and Kill Tips

This is a translation and paraphrase of a Brazilian Portuguese bestiary written in January 2016 by members of two clans. Each entry gives a Horzine-style backstory, community lore, and tips on killing the specimen. The guide marks several entries (E.D.A.R., Gorefiend, Rioter, Quarter Pounder, Abomination, King Fleshpound) as work in progress, so they are not covered. The backstory and lore parts come from the wiki and fan discussions, while the stats are described as official. For numeric resistances see the weapon type resistance chart and the beginner encyclopedia.

Clot

Clot

The Clot.

Story. When Horzine began its second wave of cloning and genetic programs, the aim was to build grown men who would obey orders and recognize Horzine staff as masters. Neural implants were added for control, but the subjects were aggressive. The guide says the line was grown from DNA of the Patriarch's dead son, and that in KF2 Clots come from a "Clot Mother".

Lore. Fans guessed they were failed clones or super-soldier experiments, or slaves or children of the Patriarch.

Tips. It is not very dangerous, but it grabs you and holds you for other ZEDs, so keep your distance. A headshot from a 9mm is enough. On Suicidal and Hell on Earth they come in hordes, so use long-range, explosive or area-damage weapons and save your best gun for tougher ZEDs.

Stats. Health body/head: 75/15 on Normal and 100/20 on Hard and above at any player count. A melee hit does 6 damage. It gives 8 XP on Normal and 11 XP above, plus 7 dosh.

Cyst

Cyst

The Cyst.

A premature Clot with no formed eyes, guided only by sound and heat, which explains its slow, frightened, inaccurate behavior. The "Meet the Zeds" trailer suggested it would only notice you if you shot, but gameplay showed otherwise. The kill advice is the same as for Clots: a 9mm headshot, and area damage when it comes in hordes.

Crawler

Crawler

The Crawler.

A mix of arachnid and human genes, not part of Horzine's military tests but a beta of animal gene experiments. Fans called it a cockroach hybrid or a pet of the Patriarch. It is one of the most repulsive ZEDs, with low health but considerable damage; a 9mm headshot kills it, and hordes on higher difficulties call for area weapons. Body/head health is 41/15 on Normal and 55/20 above.

Slasher

Slasher

The Slasher.

One of the most aggressive variants thanks to long exposure to the outside world and hunting instincts: an agile, ferocious Clot with sharp claws and multi-hit attacks. Considered weak, but on Suicidal and Hell on Earth it comes in hordes and can roll to dodge your attacks, so use long-range or area weapons.

Bloat

Bloat

The Bloat.

Story. Horzine tested drugs for fatigue, weight loss and aging on hundreds of obese men. The drugs failed: the subjects grew larger and their immune systems overloaded, leaving them full of toxic fluids. The Patriarch watched with interest, so the Bloat is one of the few ZEDs not made as a super-soldier and not cloned from Clots.

Lore. Fans called it the Patriarch's butcher because of its cleaver, or a vomit suicide bomber.

Tips. Its bile is poisonous, deals damage over time and blinds you, so stay out of range. It is slow at first but can melt you with its stomach acid. It resists some weapons, including microwave and explosives. Shoot the head and it cannot vomit.

Gorefast

Gorefast

The Gorefast.

A project similar to the Fleshpound but less pumped, designed for extremely fast, strong soldiers. It worked, but the soldiers went insane, consumed by rage and a thirst for blood. It is fast and precise and can corner you, so shoot it in the head as early as possible. Its body is muscle and soaks up bullets, but a shotgun with penetration deals the most damage.

Stalker

Stalker

The Stalker.

Created in the Stalker Project at Horzine's bunker in the Wyre forest, reportedly resembling the Patriarch's daughter Rachel. The camouflage part of the project failed, so hiding it was literally a problem; in KF2 it is more invisible, perhaps improved by the Patriarch. It turns visible when it attacks, deals a lot of damage and tends to appear when you are low on health. Find, aim and fire without hesitation.

Husk

Husk

The Husk.

Story. Part of a cybernetic experiment. It got an iron case as a backpack for a fireball launcher and cybernetic yellow eyes to lock on targets. After poor results training it with a weapon, Horzine removed its right arm and fitted a cannon on a platform. They were limited to simple programming and sometimes shot each other. After the London outbreak they roamed and shot anything alive, which is why the cars are wrecked.

Tips. It can burn you alive. The weak point is the backpack, its power source, and it keeps firing even after losing its head, so cut the problem at the root.

Siren

Siren

The Siren.

Story. The guide says she is a clone of the Patriarch's wife, who had long wanted to be a singer without the talent; her eyes were removed and she was restrained in a straitjacket. The Patriarch created her when his wife tried to divorce him.

Lore. Some fans said her screams were really cries for help, and that magnetic resonance in her vocal cords explains the exaggerated screaming.

Tips. Her scream is a sonic field that disables grenades of every class, which hurts medics. She is the only sonic ZED but is relatively weak, and mostly walks with hordes and large ZEDs. Aim for the head before she screams and keep your distance. Explosives deal a lot of damage to her, and the Demolitionist has a skill that lets grenades pass through her scream.

Scrake

Scrake

The Scrake.

Story. Designed as the perfect field medic able to endure pain while treating patients. It endured blows and stayed conscious but could only learn by taking damage and, like the Gorefast, became interested in pain.

Tips. Very resistant to explosives, so use heavy weapons such as shotguns (AA12) and rifles (SCAR-H). Aim for the head. A Berserker can use the grenade to take it out of rage and the Pulverizer's explosive attack to stun it.

Fleshpound

Fleshpound

The Fleshpound.

Story. Built for super-soldiers, constantly injected with muscle growth stimulants and adrenaline cocktails. This gave titanic bodies and an incredibly violent, short temper. After accidents each got a device to monitor adrenaline and inject sedatives. Judged a failure, they were locked in the lowest level of Horzine's labs; when it was time to destroy them, the drugs reactivated the devices and they killed the staff.

Tips. One of the biggest and most dangerous ZEDs. Use a high-damage weapon and aim at the device on its chest, which will make it rage, so do not be close. A Berserker is the best counter: the grenade takes it out of rage, and the Pulverizer and Zweihander are strong against it. It has no resistance to explosives, so a Demolitionist can use them too.

Dr. Hans Volter

Hans Volter

Dr. Hans Volter.

The guide quotes Tripwire's president as describing Hans as a Nazi maniac who lived off Horzine's technology for the past 100 years. He lives in the Volter Manor map and is said to be a rival of a playable character.

Tips. As a boss he is fast and resists explosives and fire. He has a small bomb in his chest, like the Fleshpound but smaller, and another weak point is the battery cell on his back. Focus the chest with guns; as a Berserker go in and hit hard. When he turns red he deals more damage, so keep moving, circle and close doors, and have a medic. His grenades can kill instantly, and gas obscures your vision.

Patriarch

Patriarch

The Patriarch.

Story. Kevin Clamely was the CEO and founder of Horzine Biotech, the company behind the London outbreak. Hired by the government to create the perfect soldier, one who feels no pain or fear, he treated his clones as his family. Sergeant Masterson was the last project before the outbreak. Facing shutdown, Kevin augmented himself with an updated Stalker cloaking system, three neurostimulant systems from the Fleshpound project, and a minigun with a missile launcher on his left arm, then underwent the same enhancement as the specimens with every safety disabled. In KF2 he hides in Horzine's labs such as Foundry, Wyre and Biotics Lab, with his daughter Rachel giving clues, and later appears in Paris.

Lore. Fans called him a demon who created the ZEDs, a father in the literal sense.

Tips. He resists every weapon, being a union of all ZED resistances, but takes relatively more from blunt and ballistic weapons.

Disclaimers

The authors state they organized information rather than guaranteeing it. The story and lore come from the wiki and community posts, and the ZED numbers from Tripwire's forum.

FAQ

What is the best way to kill the Fleshpound?
Use a high-damage weapon and aim at the device on its chest. A Berserker is the best counter, since the grenade calms it and the Pulverizer and Zweihander hit hard.
What should I shoot on a Husk?
The fuel tank on its back; it keeps firing even without its head.
Which weapons are weakest against the Patriarch?
According to the guide he resists everything, but takes relatively more from blunt and ballistic weapons, such as the Berserker's hammer and Commando or Gunslinger guns.
