KF2 Weapon Type Resistances: Which ZEDs Take More or Less Damage
After Tripwire added per-weapon-type resistances to every enemy, many players found the system hard to read. This page paraphrases a community chart that boils it down to categories and a per-ZED summary. It is a snapshot (last updated in August of the patch era it was written in), so exact values may have changed since; for hard numbers see the spreadsheet linked from the original and our pages on regular ZED resistances and weak points and the Japanese HP and resistances guide.
How to read the ranks
| Rank | Damage taken |
|---|---|
| Good | over 110% (over 150% if underlined) |
| Normal | 110% to 75% |
| Bad | 75% to 50% |
| Terrible | under 50% |
Borderline values round down, so a ZED taking exactly 75% is listed as Bad. A weapon with enough raw damage can ignore a ZED's resistance.
Grenade damage types
| Class | Grenade damage type |
|---|---|
| Berserker | EMP |
| Commando | Explosive |
| Demolitionist | Explosive |
| Firebug | Fire |
| Gunslinger | Explosive and piercing |
| Field Medic | Poison (also heals allies) |
| Sharpshooter | Freeze |
| Support | Explosive and piercing |
| SWAT | Explosive (high stun) |
Grenades with two damage types split their damage half and half. EMP and Freeze are unique types without resistances.
Resistances by weapon type
Assault rifles (Commando, Medic rifle, Demolitionist M4): Good: Cyst, Crawler, Gorefast, Stalker. Normal: Clot, Scrake, Siren, Slasher. Bad: Husk. Terrible: Bloat, Fleshpound, Hans, Patriarch.
Explosives (Demolitionist): Good: Fleshpound. Normal: Clot, Crawler, Cyst, Gorefast, Hans, Siren, Slasher. Bad: Husk, Stalker. Terrible: Bloat, Scrake, Patriarch. Hans takes 120% from the rocket launcher specifically, and Scrakes take 400% from rocket direct impacts (not the explosion).
Fire (Firebug, except the trench gun): no Good. Normal: Bloat, Clot, Crawler, Cyst, Gorefast, Hans, Slasher, Stalker. Terrible: Fleshpound, Husk, Patriarch, Scrake, Siren. Fire makes ZEDs panic, and apart from Bloats and Stalkers the resistances are the inverse of microwave weapons.
Handguns (Gunslinger): no Good. Normal: Clot, Crawler, Cyst, Gorefast, Husk, Scrake, Siren, Slasher, Stalker. Bad: Fleshpound, Hans. Terrible: Bloat, Patriarch. The 9mm ignores resistances of Bloats (partly) and Husks; the starting Remington revolver ignores Husk resistance.
Melee (slashing and blunt): no Good. Normal: most trash, Husk, Scrake, Siren. Bad: Gorefast, Hans. Terrible: Bloat, Fleshpound, Patriarch. Clot, Cyst and Slasher take normal damage from class knives, and all ZEDs take more damage from blunt weapons. Stabbing counts as piercing.
Electricity (Microwave): Good: Hans, Husk. Normal: Bloat, Fleshpound, Gorefast, Patriarch, Scrake, Siren. Terrible: Clot, Crawler, Cyst, Slasher, Stalker. Microwaves are strong against ZEDs with metal on them and cause panic.
Piercing (crossbow, Eviscerator blades, stabbing): Normal: Clot, Crawler, Cyst, Slasher, Stalker. Bad: Hans, Fleshpound, Gorefast, Scrake. Terrible: Bloat, Husk, Patriarch, Siren. Stun and headshot power may let piercing ignore most Bad and Terrible ranks, especially the crossbow.
Poison (Medic skills, Demolitionist nuke gas): Normal: Clot, Crawler, Cyst, Slasher, Stalker. Bad: Gorefast. Terrible: Bloat, Fleshpound, Husk, Hans, Patriarch, Siren, Scrake. Poison has the highest chance of panicking ZEDs, and Hans takes only 10% so he is nearly immune.
Rifles (Sharpshooter): Good: Gorefast. Normal: Clot, Crawler, Cyst, Scrake, Siren, Slasher, Stalker. Bad: Fleshpound, Hans, Husk. Terrible: Bloat, Patriarch. The crossbow is piercing instead.
Shotguns (Support, Berserker nailgun, Firebug trench gun, Medic shotgun): Good: Gorefast and Siren (only from the double barrel). Normal: Clot, Crawler, Cyst, Husk, Scrake, Slasher, Stalker. Bad: Fleshpound, Hans. Terrible: Bloat, Patriarch.
SMGs (SWAT, Medic SMG): Good: Clot, Cyst, Crawler, Slasher. Normal: Gorefast, Scrake, Siren. Bad: Hans, Husk, Stalker. Terrible: Bloat, Fleshpound, Patriarch.
Resistances by ZED
Bloat. Vulnerable only to Firebug weapons (normal damage); resists everything else, slightly less the 9mm. Weak point: head. Knives are resisted.

Bloat.
Clot, Cyst, Slasher and Crawler. Vulnerable to everything except microwaves; extremely weak to Commando weapons, Medic rifle and SMGs. Weak point: head.
Fleshpound. Vulnerable to microwaves and extremely weak to explosives. Resists all others, slightly less the Support weapons, nailgun, trench gun, Medic shotgun and handguns. Weak points: head and glowing chest. Metal arms resist damage.

Fleshpound.
Gorefast. Vulnerable to rifles (not the crossbow), Commando weapons and Medic rifle, and extremely weak to shotguns. Resists melee (except blunt weapons and the nailgun) and the crossbow. Weak point: head. The arm blade resists.
Hans. Vulnerable to Firebug weapons (especially microwaves, not the trench gun) and explosives (especially the RPG). Extremely resistant to Commando weapons and the Medic rifle. Weak points: head, glowing chest core, and especially the glowing backpack battery.

Hans.
Husk. Vulnerable to microwaves (especially), handguns, shotguns and the nailgun; the backpack tank takes normal damage from everything. Metal areas resist. Weak points: head and tank.
Patriarch. Resists everything equally except microwaves (normal damage). Weak points: head, right glowing shoulder, and the chest tentacle during the grab attack. Mechanical parts resist.

Patriarch.
Scrake. Vulnerable to microwaves, rifles (except crossbow), handguns, shotguns, the nailgun and RPG direct hits. Resists most else, especially fire and explosives. Weak point: head. The chainsaw resists.

Scrake.
Siren. Vulnerable to microwaves and shotguns (especially the double barrel). Resists fire and poison. Weak point: head. The metal brace resists.
Stalker. Vulnerable to melee and extremely weak to Commando weapons and the Medic rifle. Resists explosives. Weak point: head.
FAQ
- What do the resistance ranks mean?
- Good means more than 110% damage (over 150% if underlined), Normal 110% to 75%, Bad 75% to 50% and Terrible under 50%. Borderline values are rounded down.
- Which weapons are best against Fleshpounds?
- Explosives rate Good against the Fleshpound and microwave weapons are its other vulnerability; most other weapon types rank Bad or Terrible.
- Is the chart permanent?
- No. The guide was kept in sync with Tripwire's resistance changes, so check current patch data for exact values.
