KF2: Do Not Attack Scrakes That Are Not Raging Yet
The whole guide is a single request from a community player: please do not attack Scrakes when they are not mad yet. The only extra tip is for new players, who may not know that Scrakes are the ZEDs with the chainsaw. That sounds like a joke, but it is a real rule of thumb in Killing Floor 2 lobbies.
Why it matters
A Scrake is a slow, calm chainsaw ZED until something wakes it up. In KF2 it will rage once enough damage has been dealt, and a raging Scrake runs straight at players and cuts through them fast. The threshold is a percentage of its health and it falls as the difficulty goes up, so on high difficulties a single shot can trigger it. Other community guides add that Scrakes can also rage on their own once few ZEDs are left on high difficulties.
What to do instead
- Check where your teammates are and what they are holding before you shoot. If the team is not in position to finish it, leave the Scrake.
- Tell the team before you engage. Typing "sc" in chat is enough, ideally with its location.
- Focus on killing it in one go: the perks and weapons that can do big burst damage should open the attack, and others should cover.
- A comment from another player adds a Demolitionist tip: if you play that perk, leave calm Scrakes alone.

FAQ
- Why should I not shoot a Scrake that is not angry yet?
- Damaging a Scrake past a health threshold makes it rage and sprint at whoever is closest. If your team is not ready, the rage Scrake can wreck it.
- How do I tell a Scrake from other ZEDs?
- Scrakes are the ones with the chainsaw.
- What should a Demolitionist do about calm Scrakes?
- A commonly repeated community comment is to leave them alone when you play Demolitionist and let the team with the right damage handle them.
