KF2 Outpost: Climbing the Mountains as a Spectator

While you spectate a match you have plenty of spare time, and this beta-era guide spends it on exploring the scenery of Outpost, one of the first Killing Floor 2 maps. The author flew the spectator camera far beyond the playable area to find the mountains in the background and joked about the length of the trip. It is a light-hearted curiosity rather than a gameplay guide; for the actual map see Outpost collectibles.

Getting started

1. In the server browser choose to join as a spectator.
2. You start with a view of the level entrance. Keep that view and move with the WASD keys.
3. Hold Shift to go faster.

The dark median peak

The first target is the big mountain in the middle. Trees in this area have no ground below them, so take care. The wind turbines on the way are worth a look.

After about 300 metres of travel you reach the dark median mountain and its view.

The next trader is described as about 999 metres away from the big mountain, and another peak appears between the clouds.

The hidden far peak

This one is a 2 to 3 kilometre flight. On arrival the author found the peak is only a backdrop: it turns out to be a cheat of the level design rather than a real mountain, and the view back shows how far you came.

The sun mountain

The sun mountain lies on the other side of the map. A second hidden far peak appears next to it, 1,636 metres from the trader at the top of the sun mountain and over 4 kilometres in total.

Last words

The author says thanks for joining the trip. They were sad to leave the beta behind but grateful to have tested it. Readers later joked that it was either a unique experience or a complete waste of time.
