Goddess of Destruction
The Chaotic Throne 3: Awakening, level 99 and R-grade
Goddess of Destruction (The Chaotic Throne 3: Goddess of Destruction) is the Lineage 2 update released on June 15, 2011, arguably the largest in the game's history. About two thirds of the game were reworked, the level cap was raised from 85 to 99, and the update brought the Awakening system with eight new classes, R-grade gear, an auction house and campaigns, while the Seven Signs event became a thing of the past.
The data reflects the l2db.ru overviews of Goddess of Destruction (2011).

- Awakening is available from level 85; its quest can only be taken after reaching level 85.
- All previously learned skills are replaced with new ones. Enchanted skills are refunded with SP and Essence of the Giants according to their enchant level.

Subclasses
- A subclass can no longer be chosen from the group your main class belongs to after Awakening.
- The subclass can be switched in the character information window without visiting an NPC. Adding, removing or changing a subclass is done at the NPC Master Raina in Talking Island Village.
- Switching subclass applies the 15-second debuff "Identity Crisis": combat skill effects are weakened, and skills and items cannot be used.
- The quest that removes restrictions from one subclass can be taken at subclass level 80.
- New subclass certification skills: attack, defense, critical rate, speed, critical power, physical attribute, mental attribute, cost/reuse, possibility.
Items
R-grade gear
R, R95 and R99 grade items were added for characters of level 85 and above:
| Weapon | Armor set |
|---|---|
| Requiem | Immortal |
| Apocalypse | Twilight |
| Spectre | Seraph |
| Amaranthine | Eternal |
Each armor set comes in three versions: heavy armor, light armor and robe.
Unidentified items
R-grade items are obtained "unidentified". They can be dropped, traded, stored or put up for sale, but not enchanted. Double-clicking turns the item into one of three categories:
- Standard - a regular item.
- Bound - almost nothing can be done with it; it stays in the inventory forever.
- Blessed - a blessed item.
Items of all three categories can be augmented, given an attribute and fitted with an SA. Bound can be turned into Standard at the Blacksmith of Mammon with special Unbind Scrolls (R, R95 and R99 grades), obtained in the Istina raid, the Octavis raid and the epic Octavis raid. Augmented items cannot be converted, and Bound items cannot be turned into PvP items.
Crystallization and soul crystals
- After the fourth class (Awakening), any class can crystallize items. A special window shows the expected result.
- Crystallizing R-grade items yields R-grade crystals and a chance for a rare Soul Crystal fragment, an enchant scroll or an R-grade crafting material.
- R, R95 and R99 weapons use standard soul crystals (red, blue, green) and rare ones (yellow, teal, purple).
- An R-grade Soul Crystal is bought with Adventurer's Marks, rewarded for completing certain dungeons. 10 fragments are exchanged for a whole crystal at the Mammon merchant.
- A rare crystal cannot be inserted into a Bound weapon, nor a standard crystal removed from one. A rare crystal can be inserted into a weapon that has a standard one.
Rare accessories
- Blessed Necklace of Valakas (M. Def. 226), Blessed Earring of Antharas (M. Def. 170), Ring of Trasken.
- From Istina: Earring, Ring, Necklace, Bracelet, Belt and Shirt of Istina.
- From Octavis: Ring, Earring, Shirt, Necklace, Belt and Bracelet of Octavis.
PvP and reputation
Reputation instead of karma
- Karma was renamed reputation. A character with positive reputation gets a green name; if reputation turns negative, the character becomes a PK.
- On a PK kill: with a PK count of 30 or less, reputation becomes 0; at 31 or more, it goes negative in proportion to the PK count.
- At 31 PK or more, a drop penalty applies: a higher chance to drop regular items and augmented items.
- Reputation is restored by earning experience while hunting (experience and SP do not increase in the process) and by killing PKs, which grants reputation at set intervals.
- The quest Repent Your Sins no longer lowers the PK count; this is now done only with Fame at the Reputation Manager.
- A duel party can have 7 players.
Fame and clan reputation
- The Fame cap was raised to 20,000,000 points. Fame buys a new type of talisman, and the Reputation Manager sells R-grade enchant scrolls and potions.
- Fame gained in events was increased tenfold:
| Event | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Territory Wars | 125 | 1,250 |
| Castle siege | 125 | 1,250 |
| Clan hall battle | 75 | 750 |
| Fortress battle | 31 | 310 |
| Underground Coliseum | 80 | 800 |
- Removing 1 PK now costs 500,000 Fame, and converting Fame into clan reputation costs 10,000.
- Clan members taking part in a castle siege or a Territory War get 1 clan reputation point every 5 minutes.
Clans
Clan wars
- A clan needs at least 15 members to declare war and can fight no more than 5 clans at once.
- After a declaration, a 72-hour preparation stage begins. If the opponent accepts, the war starts immediately; if not, it starts anyway after 3 days.
- Attacking members of the enemy clan during preparation makes a character a PK.
- Killing an enemy in a war gives more PvP points. A character who dies in a war loses experience, as with any death.
- The war ends automatically after 3 weeks, and the results are tallied from kill statistics. After that, none of the participating clans can declare war for a week.
- Surrender is possible no earlier than a week after the war began.
Academy
- Killing an academy member does not change clan reputation.
- Academy members take part in Territory Wars and fortress and castle sieges like everyone else; academy members of level 70 and above have the same relations with enemies as all clan members.
- Players up to level 75 who have not yet completed the third class quest can join the academy. The clan gets 290 to 2,000 reputation points per graduate; graduation happens on reaching level 76 and getting the third class.
- New buffs for academy members: Academy Precept level 1 (sponsor) - P. Atk., M. Atk. and critical rate +10% for an hour, 12-hour reuse; Academy Precept level 2 (clan leader) - +20% for an hour, 6-hour reuse. It is a separate buff that does not override others.
Clan skills
| Skill | Type | Clan level |
|---|---|---|
| Clan Elemental Resistance | Passive | 5 |
| Clan Debuff Control | Passive | 5 |
| Clan Muscle Control | Passive | 5 |
| Clan Mental Control | Passive | 5 |
| Clan Summon | Active | 7 |
| Clan Boundary | Active | 8 |
| Clan Friendly | Active | 9 |
| Clan Copy | Active | 9 |
| Clan Cleanse | Active | 9 |
| Clan Prison | Active | 10 |
| Clan Defense | Active | 11 |
| Clan Guardian | Active | 11 |
Olympiad
- Participation requires level 85 and completed Noblesse and Awakening quests.
- 3v3 matches were removed. A player can fight no more than 50 matches per week.
- The Olympiad runs on weekends from 18:00 to 00:00. Weeks 1-3 have 1v1 matches, weeks 4-5 only class 1v1 matches. Opponents are matched by roughly equal strength.
- The old buffs were replaced with Awakening buffs.
- The Olympiad Manager converts Olympiad tokens into personal Fame and sells 4 types of enhanced Giant's Codex (for raising Awakening skill levels) and R-grade equipment.
- Hero Olympiad chests contain an enhanced Giant's Codex, Olympiad tokens, R-grade potions and Olympiad guardian accessories.
- The top three of each class get cloaks: the Hero's Cloak for 1st place and the Cloak of Honor for 2nd and 3rd.
- There are now 8 Heroes, matching the number of awakened classes. A clan whose member becomes a Hero gets 5,000 reputation points.
New systems
Auction house
The auction house lets you sell items even when the buyer is offline. The fee is 0.5% of the listed price per day. Access is through the Auction House Manager in any village. A character with active listings cannot be deleted.
Party replacement system
The system automatically matches parties by character level and class. A player who logs in joins a queue; when a suitable party is found, a window offers to join it. A player who agrees is teleported to the party, and the member being replaced is removed. All party members get 10 seconds of invincibility and the "Increased Concentration" buff (+3% experience for 10 minutes).
A party leader can also register a replacement and is notified when a suitable character is found. The system cannot be used in areas where summoning is forbidden, in dungeons, during PvP or in a Territory War.
Campaigns
The server announces the start of a campaign, and players decide whether to take part. Like quests, campaigns have character requirements; the goal can change depending on the number of players on the server. Participants receive rewards, ranks and tokens, which are exchanged in Aden at the Royal Token Exchanger "Conrad".
| Campaign | Level | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Kill Shilen's followers | 40+ | 30 minutes |
| Deliver the antidote | 40+ | 30 minutes |
| Visit the morgue | 40+ | 30 minutes |
| Get rid of the cursed plague | 75+ | 30 minutes |
| Find the hidden stones | 75+ | 30 minutes |
| Destroy the souls of Dark Demons | 75+ | 30 minutes |
| Destroy Shilen's creatures | 95+ | 60 minutes |
Vitality and recommendations
- A restored Vitality gauge gives 300% experience. Vitality points reset once a week.
- Hunting raid bosses no longer adds Vitality; Vitality does not grow in peace zones or while offline.
- During the Angel Nevit hours, a character gets a 50% experience bonus.
- No more than 5 items that restore or maintain Vitality can be used per week. The Priest of Blessing was removed from the game.
- The number of recommendations was raised to 10; a player who has spent all recommendations gets 100,000 adena.
Quests
- Most quests were removed from the game.
- First and second class quests are taken from your race's master in Talking Island Village, and third class quests from your race's master in Aden.
The end of the Seven Signs
Because Shilen lost her power, the Seven Signs event disappeared along with the catacombs and necropolises, and the effects of the Seals of Avarice, Gnosis and Strife no longer work. As a result:
- Elite mercenaries can no longer be hired; siege functions no longer depend on the seals.
- The maximum castle tax is 15%.
- The Dimensional Rift and the Festival of Darkness were removed.
- The Dusk Priestess and Priest of Dawn were replaced by the Priest of Mammon with a variety of goods; he travels the world together with the Blacksmith and Merchant of Mammon.
- Functions that required Ancient Adena now work with regular adena.
- Ancient magic scrolls that used to be found in the catacombs now drop from field monsters.
- The raid bosses Lilith and Anakim were removed.
