Walkthrough tips
- Find - first check where the NPC stands or where the monsters live, then run there.
- Talk - choose QUEST in the dialogue and go through all the lines. If there is a choice and the description does not say which line to pick, it does not matter (or the description is incomplete).
- Class change - when talking to the master, choose INFORMATION ON CHANGE OCCUPATION instead of QUEST, then the desired profession, then CHANGE OCCUPATION.
- Receive - the item you get is listed; the items taken from you are not.
- Hunt until you collect - the drop chance for quest items is sometimes low, but usually no more than 10 monsters per item are needed (in some cases up to 30-50). If it takes far more, you will most likely have to restart the quest.
- Travel - teleports are optional; you can save money by walking. SoE is the Scroll of Escape. To know where SoE will take you, C1 needs the SoE Map patch, while in C2 you can use the /loc command. In any case, check where to look for NPCs so you don't end up searching for them in the wrong town.
Additional notes
From the article "Life of the Party, or a healer's life" (l2db.ru, author Chibi Kitty Tomoyo) - a level 52 Bishop's view of the class.
- What a Bishop lacks. The Shillien Elder has Empower, dark buffs and Wind Shackle; the Elven Elder has light buffs, stun resistance, Wind Shackle and Return (at level 2 it lets you escape a hopeless fight); the Prophet has all buffs except Agility and Empower, plus masteries for all armor types and combat weapons. The Bishop has none of this and wears a robe or, at best, light armor. If you have any doubt about giving all that up, think again.
- Healing. Greater Heal comes at level 40 (the Elders get it only at 48); at level 52 it restores 521 HP - enough even for the fattest tank. Restore Life restores a percentage of HP, which is especially valuable on Dwarves and Orcs with large HP pools; nobody else has such a spell. Greater Quick Heal is another Battle Heal at a colossal mana cost that turns a dying fighter into a fresh one in seconds. But while Battle Heal is as strong as Heal, Greater Quick Heal is both more expensive and weaker than Greater Heal.
- Undead. The Elven Elder also has Might of Heaven. At level 40 the Bishop gets Requiem, which makes all undead in a radius passive; at 44, Repose, which stops an attack already under way. Unlike Sleep, Repose draws no aggro, while Sleep can pull passive monsters social with the attacking undead. Repose also helps in a party: if the tank slips and does not pull the undead with Hate, the monster switches to another party member, whom you then heal. Both skills depend on M. Atk. The Bishop's unique Death Calm (Hold Undead) stuns undead, but it is expensive and lands poorly.
- Sleep as a "spellbreaker". Even if Sleep stays on a monster for just one second, it interrupts the spell the monster is casting with 100% certainty - unlike other party members' hits. Putting to sleep, say, a Grave Guard casting Flame Strike is far cheaper than healing the party with Group Heal afterwards.
- Nice extras: Vitalize heals like Greater Heal and removes bleeding and poison; Purify removes many different conditions; there is also mass clan resurrection.
- Weapon. Many useful Bishop skills depend on M. Atk, and the Bishop lacks the Prophet's buffs for fighting with physical weapons, so the ideal weapon is a staff. The author tried dual swords and bows (Akat and Eminence): a bow consumes mana, and the Eminence "sucks it like a vacuum cleaner", cancelling regeneration and killing non-stop leveling for the party.
- Armor (sets tested):
- Robe of Seal - a rare robe converted to top C-grade during a character transfer; adds mana like Karmian, no other bonuses.
- Theca Leather - lots of defense, but little mana and low casting speed (though higher than a Shillien Elder's); pulling off the "spellbreaker" trick in it is nearly impossible.
- Divine - lots of mana and a small mana regeneration bonus, but casting speed is lower than in Karmian and it lowers M. Atk; in the author's opinion it suits the Elders better.
- Karmian - the author's choice: a casting speed of 529 under Acumen 2 and Berserker Spirit makes every tactical trick possible, and with sensible leveling mana never runs dry anyway. Next, an upgrade to Avadon. The author leveled to 35 in the Devotion set.
- Good leveling spots for a Bishop, in the author's opinion, are Cruma Tower and Giant's Cave.
