Second Profession: Dark Avenger

Human Knight - Dark Avenger: all three marks in one pass

Dark Avenger is the second profession for the Human Knight, available from level 40. To change class you need to collect three marks and then talk to the guild master. Below is a combined route that runs all three quests in parallel in one optimized pass. The next step is the third profession, Hell Knight.

Minimum requirements

  • Level 40.
  • About 300,000 adena for teleports.
  • World map (Map: World).
  • 40 Scrolls of Escape (just in case).
  • A stock of Soulshots.

Route

  1. Teleport to Giran and run to Death Pass.
  2. Find Shadow Orim, talk to him and receive Orim's Diagram.
  3. Use SoE.
  4. In the luxury shop (the crystal shop), find Trader Alexandria, talk to her and receive Alexandria's Book.
  5. In the mages' guild, find Magister Iker, talk to him and receive Iker's List.
  6. Teleport to Oren, then to Ivory Tower.
  7. In the pit, hunt Enchanted Stone Golem until you collect 20 Enchanted Golem Heartstone.
  8. Use SoE.
  9. Around the town, hunt any Leto Lizardman until you collect 20 Leto Lizardman Charm.
  10. Run to the Sea of Spores.
  11. Hunt Dire Wyrm until you collect 20 Dire Wyrm Fang.
  12. Use SoE.
  13. In the church, find High Priest Hollint and receive Letter to Elf and Letter to Darkelf.
  14. Teleport to Giran.
  15. In the fighters' guild, find Grand Master Hannavalt and talk to him.
  16. In the mages' guild, find Magister Iker, talk to him and receive Aklantoth Gem 1.
  17. In the dark elf guild, find Magister Kaira, talk to her and receive Aklantoth Gem 2.
  18. Teleport to Dion.
  19. In the magic shop, find Trader Lara, talk to her and receive Lara's Memo 1.
  20. Run to the Execution Grounds.
  21. In the pit, hunt Nameless Revenant until you get Aklantoth Gem 3.
  22. Use SoE, teleport to Gludio, then to Elf Village.
  23. In the main building, find Hierarch Asterios, talk to him and receive Order of Asterios.
  24. Run southwest.
  25. Hunt Dryad and Dryad Elder until Actea of Verdant Wilds appears. Kill her and receive Seed of Verdure.
  26. Run further southwest.
  27. Hunt Lirein and Lirein Elder until Luell of Zephyr Winds appears. Kill her and receive Breath of Winds.
  28. Use SoE.
  29. Find Hierarch Asterios, talk to him and receive Scroll of Elf Trust.
  30. Teleport to Gludio, then to Darkelf Village.
  31. In the main building, find Tetrarch Thifiell, talk to him and receive Letter of Thifiell.
  32. Teleport to Gludin.
  33. In the magic shop, find Trader Nestle, talk to her and receive Nestle's Memo1.
  34. By the southeast exit of the village, find Leopold, talk to him and receive Leopold's Journal1.
  35. Teleport to South Entrance to Wasteland and run along the road towards Floran.
  36. Off the road, find Sir Aron Tanford, talk to him and receive Old Knight Sword.
  37. Run to the Wasteland.
  38. Hunt Skeletal Mercenary until you get Aklantoth Gem 4, Aklantoth Gem 5 and Aklantoth Gem 6.
  39. Use SoE, teleport to Gludio, then to Dion.
  40. In the dark elf guild, find Magister Clayton, talk to him and receive Order of Clayton.
  41. Teleport to Giran and run to Death Pass.
  42. Find Shadow Orim and talk to him. Drevanul Prince Zeruel appears - kill him and receive Brimstone1.
  43. Talk to Shadow Orim again and receive Orim's Instructions, Orim's Letter1 and Orim's Letter2.
  44. Use SoE, teleport to Dion, then to Gludio and Gludin.
  45. Next to the fighters' guild, find Sir Klaus Vasper, talk to him and receive Sir Vasper's Letter.
  46. Buy 100 Soulshot No Grade.
  47. Teleport to South Entrance to Wasteland and run into the Wasteland.
  48. Hunt Skeleton Marauder and Skeleton Raider until Spirit of Sir Herod appears. Be sure to kill skeletons of both kinds. This is the only place on the route where you may have to kill up to 500 skeletons.
  49. Using the Old Knight Sword, kill Spirit of Sir Herod and receive Knights Tear.
  50. Run to the Ant Nest.
  51. Hunt Ant Recruit, Ant Patrol, Ant Solider, Ant Guard and Ant Warrior Captain until you collect 10 Giant Aphid. They automatically turn into Honey Dew.
  52. Run to South Entrance to Wasteland and on along the road towards Floran.
  53. Find Sir Aron Tanford and talk to him.
  54. Use SoE, teleport to Gludio and run to Cruma Tower.
  55. Hunt any Marsh Stakato until you collect 10 Stakatos Fluid. They automatically turn into Stakato Ichor.
  56. Use SoE.
  57. In the dark elf guild, find Sir Kiel Nighthawk and talk to him.
  58. Run to the Execution Grounds.
  59. Hunt Ghoul and Strain until you collect 10 Torn Report Piece. They automatically turn into a Report.
  60. Run to Giran and from there to Death Pass.
  61. Hunt Guardian Basilisk until you collect 10 Blood of Guardian Basilisk. They automatically turn into Basilisk Plasma.
  62. Use SoE and teleport to Dion.
  63. In the dark elf guild, find Sir Kiel Nighthawk, talk to him and receive Orfic Mirror.
  64. Find Magister Clayton and talk to him.
  65. Run to the Execution Grounds.
  66. Hunt Hangman Tree until Spirit of Sir Talianus appears.
  67. Talk to Spirit of Sir Talianus, then kill him and receive Tear of Confession.
  68. Use SoE.
  69. In the dark elf guild, find Sir Kiel Nighthawk and talk to him.
  70. Teleport to Gludio, then to Darkelf Village.
  71. Find Tetrarch Thifiell, talk to him and receive Scroll of Darkelf Trust.
  72. Teleport to Dion, then to Giran and to Hunter Village.
  73. In the square, find Isael Silvershadow and talk to her.
  74. Run west to the Plains of the Lizardmen.
  75. Hunt Leto Lizardman until you collect 20 Militas Article.
  76. Use SoE.
  77. In the church, find Priest Vadin, talk to him and receive Vadin's Crucifix.
  78. Teleport to Hunter Village.
  79. In the square, find Isael Silvershadow, talk to her and receive Tear of Loyalty.
  80. Northeast of the village, hunt Tamlin Orc and Tamlin Orc Archer until you collect 20 Tamlin Orc Amulet.
  81. Use SoE and teleport to Oren.
  82. In the church, find Priest Vadin, talk to him and receive Vadin's Sanctions.
  83. In the church, find High Priest Hollint, talk to him and receive Letter to Seresin.
  84. Near the church, find Cardinal Seresin and receive Letter to Orc and Letter to Dwarf.
  85. Teleport to Giran.
  86. In the church, find Priest Dustin, talk to him and choose <Ask about Athebaldt's death>, and in turn.
  87. Northwest of the town, hunt Breka Orc Overlord until you collect Sir Athebaldt's Skull, Sir Athebaldt's Ribs and Sir Athebaldt's Shin.
  88. Use SoE.
  89. In the church, find Priest Dustin, talk to him and receive Saints Ashes Urn.
  90. In the mages' guild, find Magister Iker, talk to him and receive Iker's Amulet and Soultrap Crystal.
  91. Teleport to Dion, then to Gludio and to Orc Village.
  92. On the second floor of the main building, find Flame Lord Kakai, talk to him and receive Letter to Manakia.
  93. Teleport to Gludin, then to Gludio, Dion and Giran.
  94. By the north gate, find Seer Manakia and talk to her.
  95. Teleport to Hardin Academy and run northwest.
  96. Hunt Windsus until you collect 10 Lota's Parasite.
  97. Use SoE.
  98. Find Seer Manakia, talk to her and receive Letter of Manakia.
  99. Teleport to Dion, then to Gludio and to Orc Village.
  100. Find Flame Lord Kakai, talk to him and receive Scroll of Orc Trust.
  101. Teleport to Gludin, then to Dwarf Village.
  102. Find Iron Gate's Lockirin and talk to him.
  103. Teleport to Gludin, then to Gludio, and run to Cruma Tower.
  104. Near the tower, find Maestro Nikola, talk to him and receive Order of Nikola.
  105. Teleport to the first floor of Cruma Tower.
  106. Hunt Porta until you collect 10 Heart of Porta.
  107. Return to Maestro Nikola and talk to him.
  108. Use SoE, teleport to Gludio, then to Dwarf Village.
  109. Find Iron Gate's Lockirin, talk to him and receive Scroll of Dwarf Trust.
  110. Teleport to Gludin.
  111. Next to the fighters' guild, find Sir Klaus Vasper, talk to him and receive Sword of Binding.
  112. Buy 500 Soulshot No Grade.
  113. Teleport to Gludio, then to Dion, and run to Floran.
  114. On the east shore of the lake, find Fisherman Evert, talk to him and receive Brimstone2.
  115. Drevanul Prince Zeruel appears - kill him using the Sword of Binding and receive Purgatory Key and Zeruel Bind Crystal.
  116. Run to Dion, teleport to Giran and run to Death Pass.
  117. Find Shadow Orim, talk to him and receive Mark of Witchcraft.
  118. Use SoE and teleport to Oren.
  119. Find High Priest Hollint, talk to him and receive Recommendation of Hollint.
  120. Teleport to Giran, then to Dion, Gludio, Gludin and Talking Island. Run to the Obelisk of Victory.
  121. Find Sir Collin Windawood, talk to him and receive Letter of Windawood.
  122. Use SoE.
  123. In the church, find High Priest Biotin, talk to him and receive Mark of Trust.
  124. Teleport to Gludin, then to Gludio, Dion and Giran.
  125. In the church, find Priest Dustin, talk to him and receive Letter of Dustin.
  126. In the fighters' guild, find Grand Master Hannavalt, talk to him and receive Mark of Duty.
  127. In the dark elf guild, find Grand Master Angus, talk to him and become a Dark Avenger. Quest complete.

Walkthrough tips

  • Find - first check where the NPC stands or where the monsters live, then run there.
  • Talk - choose QUEST in the dialogue and go through all the lines. If there is a choice and the description does not say which line to pick, it does not matter (or the description is incomplete).
  • Class change - when talking to the master, choose INFORMATION ON CHANGE OCCUPATION instead of QUEST, then the desired profession, then CHANGE OCCUPATION.
  • Receive - the item you get is listed; the items taken from you are not.
  • Hunt until you collect - the drop chance for quest items is sometimes low, but usually no more than 10 monsters per item are needed (in some cases up to 30-50). If it takes far more, you will most likely have to restart the quest.
  • Travel - teleports are optional; you can save money by walking. SoE is the Scroll of Escape. To know where SoE will take you, C1 needs the SoE Map patch, while in C2 you can use the /loc command. In any case, check where to look for NPCs so you don't end up searching for them in the wrong town.
