Manor: Sowing and Harvesting
How to become a farmer, plus a farmer's cheat sheet
"I'd rather have sown a hundred thousand monsters than one woman!" the farmer father shouted angrily at his good-for-nothing son. - Human humor
Envious of Dwarves making money out of thin air? Spending weeks hunting monsters for materials for a new weapon, counting every adena, leaving your character to trade overnight - all in vain? There is a solution: sowing and harvesting. It is a way to improve your finances with minimal effort and time, open to any character. All you need is a little money, a little time and a little patience.
Equipment
Every town has 2-3 Manor Manager NPCs. From them you buy a sickle (Harvester) to gather the harvest, and seeds (Seed).
How it works
Sowing resembles Spoil, with some differences:
- Before or during a fight, use a seed on a monster (from your inventory or shortcut bar). A spoil-like animation plays, and then your character attacks the monster.
- Depending on the seed type and the level gaps between your character, the monster and the seed, sowing may succeed or fail, but the seed is consumed either way.
- If it fails, you can try sowing another seed a few seconds later. Unlike Spoil, sowing has no cooldown indicator, so you have to judge the timing by eye.
- Although your character starts attacking the monster, a sowing attempt does not count as an attack - the monster will not attack you right away, so you can stop attacking (for example, by running away) and try again.
- After killing the monster, use the Harvester on its corpse. If you lost the target during the fight, select the corpse with SHIFT + left click.
- A successful harvest gives you a crop (Mature) matching the seed you sowed.
Sowing zones
Seeds can only be sown in monsters of the zone the town where you bought them belongs to. For example, seeds bought in Gludio (Gludio Castle zone) can be sown in monsters around Gludio and Gludin. Zones are tied to castles:
| Castle | Locations |
|---|---|
| Gludio Castle | Gludin Village, Forgotten Temple, Langk Lizardman Dwelling, Abandoned Camp, Fellmere Lake, Orc Barracks, Gludio Castle Town, Gludio Castle, Maille Lizardman Barracks, Wasteland, The Ant Nest, Ruins of Agony, Ruins of Despair, Neutral Zone |
| Dion Castle | Dion Castle Town, Floran Village, Beehive, Execution Grounds, Partisan Hideaway, Cruma Tower, Monster Derby Track, Giran Harbor |
| Innadril Castle | Heine, Field of Silence, Field of Whispers, Innadril Castle, Alligator Island, Devil's Isle, Pirate Tunnel, Garden of Eva, Talking Island |
| Giran Castle | Tanor Canyon, Giran Castle Town, Giran Castle, Death Pass, Dragon Valley, Lair of Antharas |
| Oren Castle | Town of Oren, Dark Elven Village, Swampland, Black Magic Laboratory, Altar of Rites, Windy Hill, Elven Village, Iris Lake, Elven Fortress, Ivory Tower, Plains of the Lizardmen, Sea of Spores, Bandit Stronghold |
| Aden Castle | Town of Aden, Tower of Insolence, Border Outpost, Blazing Swamp, Giants Cave, The Cemetery, Forbidden Gateway, Devastated Castle, Forsaken Plains, Silent Valley, Narsell Lake, Anghell Waterfall, Forest of Mirrors, Enchanted Valley, Hunter Village |
Sowing and harvest chances
- Harvesting. The base chance is 90-100%. The level gap between your character and the killed monster is checked: if it exceeds 5, the chance drops by 15% per level of difference, but never below 1%.
- Sowing. Each seed type has monster level limits. If the gap between the seed level and the monster level is more than 5, the chance drops by 15% per level (minimum 1%). In addition, as with harvesting, the gap between your character and the monster is checked - the same 15% penalty per level.
- It does not matter who killed the monster or how - you don't have to kill it yourself. You can team up with a stronger character, such as a high-level archer or mage.
- A sowing attempt costs 3 MP, a harvest attempt 7 MP. If your character is low on MP, you risk losing the harvest.
Normal and alternative seeds
| Normal (Seed) | Alternative (Alternative Seed) | |
|---|---|---|
| Crops | normal (Mature) | alternative (Alternative Mature) |
| Base sowing chance | 100% (the farmer's cheat sheet says 90-100%) | 10-20% |
| Price | cheaper | more expensive |
| Monster drop | nothing drops except adena and Seal Stones | kept |
Why pay more for a worse chance? Because of the drop: normal seeds strip the monster of all loot except adena and Seal Stones.
Spoil is kept with any seed, but remember two rules:
- Spoil and sowing can be used in any order.
- You must harvest before using Sweeper: after Sweeper the corpse disappears immediately, and the harvest is lost.
Number of crops
Usually 1 seed gives 1 crop. But when hunting monsters with boosted HP (x2-x5) or high-level monsters (+5 to +10 levels), one seed gives several crops, up to 9. Experienced farmers claim one seed can yield up to 30 crops, but the secret was never revealed.
Selling the harvest
Harvested crops are handed in to the same Manor Manager NPCs - not only in the towns of the castle where you bought the seeds, but in any other town that buys those crops.
Each castle can sell and buy only certain types of seeds and crops. Any Manor Manager in any town can tell you where, how many and at what price they are bought: choose "Present condition of crop purchase" in the dialogue, then the crop type and the town. You will see which crops the town buys, the purchase price, the remaining unpurchased quantity and the reward type (0 - not bought, 1 - Type I, 2 - Type II). Even if a castle can produce certain seeds, the list actually on sale is set by the castle owner.
Limits
- You cannot buy all the seeds put up for sale that day.
- You cannot hand in more crops than the castle lord has set for purchase.
Example 1. A castle produced 700 seeds of one kind and type - you can buy 699.
Example 2. Those 699 seeds gave you 800 crops, and the lord set the purchase limit at 700. You can sell only 700 - and only if no one got there first. Otherwise you will have to keep the crops until next time.
If the seeds are sold out and the crops bought up, you can check with a Manor Manager where trading is still going on, or wait for the reset: after it you can buy seeds again and hand in leftover crops. Seed production and crop purchases reset once a day at 04:00 GMT+0 (7 a.m. Moscow time) on all servers except the European server Teon, where the reset happens at 19:00 GMT+0 (10 p.m. Moscow time).
Crop rewards
For each crop type, regardless of whether it is normal or alternative, you can get one of two materials. Which one depends on the reward type (Type I or Type II) set by the castle owner. For example, Dark Coda crops give either Stem (Type I) or Braided Hemp (Type II). The purchase quantity is different for each type.
The amount of material you receive is calculated by the formula:
M = C x P / (B + R)
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| M | amount of material received |
| C | number of crops handed in |
| P | the castle's crop purchase price |
| B | base price of the material |
| R | a random number |
Fractional amounts are always rounded down, so hand in exactly as many crops as needed to get a whole number. And don't forget to calculate your profit from selling the materials minus what you paid for the seeds.
Procedure: check the crop purchase info for the town you want via the Manor Manager. The last column is the reward type (0, 1 or 2), the one before it is the purchase price (P). Plug the values into the formula.
Crop reward table
The Base I and Base II columns are the base prices of the materials. In the castle columns, "x" means this seed and crop type can be produced and bought at the castle (but is not guaranteed to be), and "-" means it cannot.

Farmer's cheat sheet
- Seeds are bought and crops handed in at the Manor Manager NPC. Reset: daily at 04:00 GMT+0, on Teon at 19:00 GMT+0.
- You can sow before or during a fight. You can spoil the monster as well, but use the Harvester before Sweeper.
- Normal seeds are cheap and reliable, but the monster drops only adena and Seal Stones. Alternative seeds cost more and succeed 10-20% of the time, but the drop is kept.
- Each level of difference above 5 between your character, the seed and the monster lowers the chance by 15% (minimum 1%). It does not matter who killed the monster.
- 1 seed - 1 crop; from boosted (x2-x5 HP) or high-level (+5 to +10) monsters - up to 9.
- Seeds from one castle's zone can be sown only in monsters of that zone; crops can be handed in in any town that buys them.
