Wolf: the Get a Pet Quest

Many consider the wolf the most useless pet, but that is far from true: most players simply lack the patience to raise a weak cub into a real fighting wolf that can sometimes outdo even its owner in melee.

To get a wolf, complete the Get a Pet quest. Characters of level 15 and above can take it. The reward is the Wolf Collar binder, and the cub starts at level 15. You can skip the quest and buy a cub from another player - but inspect the purchase carefully: the cub may have been through fights already and not look its best.

A wolf must be well fed, or it will fight poorly and may even run away. Wolf food - Food for Wolves - is sold by any Pet Manager in any town. At first a wolf is weak and can die from two or three hits, but as it grows you can buy it weapons and armor - regular wolf equipment is also sold by the Pet Manager. Walkthrough

Step	What to do
1	Teleport to Gludin. In the northwestern part of town, in one of the shops, find Pet Manager Martin and talk to him - you receive an Animal Slayer's List. The list depends on your race (steps 2-6).
2	Human - Animal Slayer's 1st List. Teleport to Talking Island and run to the Obelisk of Victory. On the northern coast hunt Giant Spider, Talon Spider and Blade Spider until you collect 50 Bloody Fang.
3	Elf - Animal Slayer's 2nd List. Teleport to Elf Village and run west. Within the elven lands hunt Crimson Spider, Hook Spider and Pincer Spider until you collect 50 Bloody Claw.
4	Dark Elf - Animal Slayer's 3rd List. Teleport to Darkelf Village and run to Swampland. In the swamp hunt Lesser Dark Horror, Dark Horror and Prowler until you collect 50 Bloody Nail.
5	Orc - Animal Slayer's 4th List. Teleport to Orc Village and run to Frozen Waterfall. South of the waterfall hunt Kasha Spider, Kasha Fang Spider and Kasha Blade Spider until you collect 50 Bloody Kasha Fang.
6	Dwarf - Animal Slayer's 5th List. Teleport to Dwarf Village, then to Northern Coast. To the northeast, beyond the mountain ridge, hunt Hunter Tarantula and Plunder Tarantula until you collect 50 Bloody Tarantula Nail.
7	Use SoE and teleport to Gludin. Talk to Pet Manager Martin - you receive the Animal Lover's List.
8	Teleport to Gludio, find Gatekeeper Belladonna and talk to her. You can read her story if you know English, or just close the window.
9	Teleport to Dion. Near the southern gate find Guard Metty and talk to him.
10	Teleport to Giran. In the jewelry shop find Trader Ellie and talk to her.
11	Teleport to Dion, then Gludio and Gludin. Talk to Pet Manager Martin - you will have to answer several questions (see below).
12	If you answer all questions correctly, you receive the Wolf Collar. Quest complete.

Walkthrough notes

• Talking to NPCs: choose the QUEST option and click through all dialogues. If a dialogue offers a choice and the walkthrough does not say which line to pick, it does not matter (or the description is incomplete).
• "You receive" lists the item you are given, but not which items are taken away.
• "Hunt X until you collect N Y" - the drop chance for quest items is sometimes low, but it usually takes no more than 10 mobs per item (in some cases up to 30-50). If it takes more, you will have to restart the quest.
• Travel: teleports are optional - you can save money by walking. SoE is the Scroll of Escape. To know where SoE will take you, C1 needs the SoE Map patch; in C2 you can use the /loc command.

Additional notes

From l2db.ru (2009):

• In the l2db version, the correct answer to the question about the maximum time to resurrect a pet is given as 3 minutes. The quest still starts with Pet Manager Martin in a shop in the northwestern part of Gludin; in your home lands you collect 50 "claws" from the spiders named in the quest.
• When the wolf cub gets hungry (the green satiety bar drops), its stats get worse. You can feed it by setting it on the rabbits that are plentiful near towns, or simply give it Food for Wolves.
• A wolf cub that never hits a monster gets no experience; if the cub kills a monster on its own, without your help, it gets 100% of the calculated experience.
• They say a well-buffed adult wolf can even tank.
• Give the wolf an original name, for example from a favorite fantasy book: once given, it cannot be changed or removed.
