KF2 Wider Field of View: AspectRatioAxisConstraint Config Edit
A short December 2024 guide (originally in Russian) shows the quickest way to get a visibly wider picture in Killing Floor 2: change a single aspect-ratio constraint line in the engine config. It mainly benefits wide and ultrawide monitors.
Steps
- Close the game and open the config file at
C:\Users\<your user>\Documents\My Games\KillingFloor2\KFGame\Config\KFEngine.iniin any text editor. - Press Ctrl+F and search for
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainXFOV(search direction: down, then Find Next). - Replace that line with:
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV
- Save the file and launch the game. The view should look noticeably different.
What the change does
The setting tells the engine which axis keeps its field of view fixed when the screen aspect ratio changes. With the default X constraint, wider screens get no extra horizontal view; the Y constraint keeps the vertical field of view fixed and lets the horizontal one grow with the aspect ratio. This explanation is general Unreal Engine behavior, not part of the original guide.
If you want more config tweaks, see the other config pages in this section, and remember to keep a backup copy of the ini before editing.
