KF2 Camera Grab Glitch: Possible Mouse Driver Fix
This is a short troubleshooting note about one of the more annoying Killing Floor 2 bugs, the "camera grab" glitch. The author is careful to say that the fix is only a possible one: it may work or it may not. It cured the problem for the author's girlfriend, which is what the guide is based on.
What the camera grab glitch looks like
When a specimen grabs you (a Clot or similar grabber), the camera is supposed to turn and focus on the ZED holding you. With this glitch the camera instead flies around the room and does not target the grabber. You cannot see what is happening, so you either need a teammate to rescue you or you are dead. In the video attached to the original guide, the glitch can be seen about 30 seconds in.
Likely cause
The author cannot be 100 percent sure, but the problem looks related to the mouse drivers that Microsoft ships with Windows (all versions) and how they behave with certain mice. In other words, the generic driver may be sending input that the game's grab camera mishandles.
How to try the fix
- Find out which mouse you use and open the manufacturer's support page.
- Download and install the vendor's own driver or control software. For a Logitech mouse that usually means installing their SetPoint software, which replaces the stock Microsoft driver.
- Restart the game and test by letting a ZED grab you (for example on a low difficulty or in a private match).

FAQ
- What is the camera grab glitch in KF2?
- When a ZED grabs you, the camera should lock onto the grabber. With the glitch, the view swings around freely instead, and you usually need a teammate (or luck) to survive.
- What is the suggested fix?
- Replace the generic Microsoft mouse driver with the driver or software from your mouse manufacturer, for example Logitech SetPoint.
- Is the fix guaranteed?
- No. The author stresses it is only a possible fix. It worked for one affected player, and the exact cause is not confirmed.
