Best KF2 Perks for Beginners: Commando, Field Medic, Gunslinger

New to Killing Floor 2 and unsure which perk to level first? This short community guide recommends three friendly choices. It is one player's opinion, so use it as a starting point and see perk overview for beginners for other views.

Commando

The starting weapon, the AR-15, is very good and can kill with a headshot, so you do not need to buy better guns early on. You can simply upgrade the one you already have.

Field Medic

A good, fun pick if you do not want to focus on shooting ZEDs but want to help teammates. At level 5 you get 125 HP instead of the standard 100. The perk has very good weapons, and the author's suggested purchase order is: first the HMTech-201 SMG if you have the money and kill ZEDs with it, then the HMTech-401 Assault Rifle, upgraded as far as possible.

Gunslinger

Gunslinger holds most of the pistols in the game, so it suits pistol fans. The starting pistol is good as a backup for any perk and strong even on its own. The author likes to buy the .50 Desert Eagle, which can kill with a headshot and gets better when upgraded, and a favorite weapon is the SPX 464 Centerfire, which is simply fun to use.
