KF2 Medic in Five Minutes: Early Access Quick Guide
A short, informal early-access Medic guide that covers how the Field Medic plays at the start of Killing Floor 2. Skills and numbers have changed since, so for the current perk see the medic beginner guide.
Basics
- The medic pistol is strong: use it to stay alive early.
- Medic guns beep when you aim at a hurt teammate; pressing the middle mouse button fires a homing healing dart.
- Medics run fast, which lets you grab ammo, body armor and weapons for yourself or to sell. If someone complains, remind them you are the Medic.
Weapon progression
- Buy the medic SMG. It fires fast, is accurate and does a lot of damage; sell the pistol after the first wave if you need the money. The SMG alone carries you through the first waves.
- Add the medic shotgun for tougher zeds such as the Fleshpound, Scrake and Siren.
- Eventually sell the SMG and shotgun and buy the medic assault rifle, plus an AK-style rifle (or a bullpup if you cannot afford one). The medic assault rifle outdamages the AK, so use it as the main gun.
Grenades as a tanking tool
When a Fleshpound or Scrake arrives, throw one or two medic grenades at your own feet and tank the damage. Combined with the right skills you can almost solo them. Medic grenades also work whenever a large crowd of zeds is around.
Skill picks (early access)
- Level 5: the health option, preferred over the ammo one.
- Level 10: the option that makes armor cheaper, so refilling costs less and you can keep your starting armor for a while.
- Level 15: the bleeding damage skill; the regeneration option is judged weaker.
- Levels 20 and 25: the author had no verdict.
Hans
- Heal your teammates a lot: they keep walking into his gas and grenades.
- When Hans grabs someone, heal the victim and do not shoot him. One or two medic grenades during his first heal can help, but do not waste them all.
- When he goes berserk and hunts one player with fast melee, heal that player as much as possible.
- If he charges at you, pull out the scalpel, block and hope for the best.
- After his third heal, go all out and keep healing.
- If you are the last survivor, lead him around, shoot when you have a clear shot, and do not stand still. Leading him around corners and closing doors in his face stops his charges, grenades and bullets.
