KF2 Boss Guide: Patriarch, King Fleshpound, Abomination, Hans
This page paraphrases a Brazilian Portuguese community guide (translated) on the four main Killing Floor 2 bosses. The author wanted to describe each boss's behavior and give simple ways to deal with them. The guide also contains a Matriarch section that was still marked as "to be updated".

Setting in short
Killing Floor takes place in continental Europe, where an outbreak caused by Horzine Biotech spread quickly and destroyed the European Union. A month after the first game, clones of specimens are everywhere, communications are down, governments have collapsed and military forces have been wiped out. Survivors and mercenaries set up privately funded bases of operations to exterminate the genetic ZEDs.
Patriarch
Patriarch.
Story. Kevin Clamely, the Patriarch's original identity, was CEO and founder of Horzine Biotech, the company behind the London outbreak. The government hired him to create the perfect soldier who would feel neither pain nor fear. When his methods were judged too immoral the project was shut down, but he continued in a second complex deep under London. Afraid his scientists would reveal his work, he had the remaining ones implant him with the most advanced tech: an upgraded stalker cloak, three modified neuro-stimulation systems like those in the Guardian project, and a nerve-controlled weapons platform on his left arm, followed by the same gene-boosting process as all specimens at full capacity. Armies fell before him.
Patriarch characteristics.
Kill reward: 500 dosh on every difficulty. XP: 1291 Normal, 1694 Hard, 1790 Suicidal, 1843 Hell on Earth.
Health by difficulty (Normal / Hard / Suicidal / Hell on Earth):
| Players | Normal | Hard | Suicidal | HoE |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 2812 | 3750 | 4237 | 5212 |
| 4 | 7030 | 9375 | 10592 | 13030 |
| 6 | 9842 | 13125 | 14829 | 18242 |
He carries three syringes tied to his leg and uses them after retreating. Health restored (percent of max):
| Syringe | Normal | Hard | Suicidal | HoE |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | 75% | 85% | 95% | 99% |
| 2nd | 55% | 65% | 75% | 85% |
| 3rd | 60% | 80% | 80% | 90% |
He resists every damage type with no real weakness, and resists shotguns most. Damage multipliers by body part:
| Part | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Tentacle | x1.5 |
| Right arm | x1.3 |
| Right forearm, head, abdomen/hip, right foot | x1.0 |
| Body, right leg | x0.8 |
| Right hand | x0.5 |
| Left arm, left leg | x0.1 |
Strategy. He walks slowly toward the team, cloaks once he is in sight and follows a random player. Once visible, shoot him and stay out of melee range. He repeatedly cloaks and switches targets, going for isolated players or the farthest ones. Every few seconds he attacks with the minigun, the missile launcher (direct or aerial) or the tentacle (if close, risking a pull).
Tips:
- Fighting him under a low ceiling stops his upward missile attack.
- Never stand still or bunch up: his area damage can kill the whole team in one attack.
- You can kill him before he escapes to heal by trapping him in a closed room. The sooner the better, as he regenerates three times and returns stronger and more aggressive.
- Keep using cover.
King Fleshpound
King Fleshpound.
Story. A genetically developed boss, a stronger version of the Quarter Pounder and Fleshpound with more speed, strength and resistance, and the same goal: destroy everyone.
King Fleshpound characteristics.
Kill reward: 2500 dosh on every difficulty. XP: 1291, 1694, 1790, 1843.
| Players | Normal | Hard | Suicidal | HoE |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Health, 1 | 5512 | 7262 | 8750 | 10500 |
| Health, 4 | 11961 | 15758 | 18987 | 22785 |
| Health, 6 | 16260 | 21422 | 25812 | 30975 |
| Shield, 1 | 1134 | 2241 | 4000 | 6000 |
| Shield, 4 | 2460 | 4862 | 8680 | 13020 |
| Shield, 6 | 3345 | 6610 | 11800 | 17700 |
Below 20% health he gains a shield that works as a second health bar and resists all damage types.
| Part | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Head | x1.1 |
| Chest crystal | x1.1 |
| Arm grinders | x0.2 |
| Rest of body | x1.0 |
Phases (accumulating): phase 1 at 65% health or lower, a series of rage bursts at a random (usually the nearest) player. Phase 2 at 50%, a laser from the chest crystal that can kill a player in seconds. Phase 3 at 20%, the shield, with the earlier abilities remaining.
Strategy. Bring strong weapons. He walks slowly at first, giving you time to plan and learn the escape doors. Beware the grinders. If you play in a team, surround him to divert his attention.
Tips:
- When enraged he follows someone and only stops when he hits someone, so have high-resistance perks such as Berserker or Medic take the hit.
- When the laser fires, he aims straight at a player. If you are targeted, crouch quickly at the right moment (if both of you are at the same height you escape). If you are at his side or back, empty your weapon freely, since he will not turn to hit you.
- Once the shield is up, keep shooting until it breaks, since he takes no health damage and has all rages active.
Abomination
Abomination.
Spawn of the Abomination.
Story. A larger, armored version of the Bloat that can create mini copies of itself, which explode and cause poison damage. It has armor on head, chest and back and its damage is poison-based. The chest armor is the most resistant and the head armor the least. It is slow and unprepared; much of the harassment comes from its spawned minions.
Abomination characteristics.
Kill reward: 500 dosh. XP: 1291, 1694, 1790, 1843.
| Players | Normal | Hard | Suicidal | HoE |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Health, 1 | 5850 | 7200 | 8100 | 9450 |
| Health, 4 | 12870 | 15840 | 17820 | 20790 |
| Health, 6 | 17550 | 21600 | 24300 | 28350 |
| Head armor, 1 | 650 | 800 | 900 | 1050 |
| Head armor, 6 | 1950 | 2400 | 2700 | 3150 |
| Body armor, 1 | 2600 | 3200 | 3600 | 4200 |
| Body armor, 6 | 7800 | 9600 | 10800 | 12600 |
| Waist armor, 1 | 1950 | 2400 | 2700 | 3150 |
| Waist armor, 6 | 5850 | 7200 | 8100 | 9450 |
Each armor piece has its own health and absorbs all damage to its body part. When one is destroyed he enrages and chases the nearest player for up to 9 seconds, the maximum he can run. He resists everything, so no weapon is specifically recommended.
| Part | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Head | x1.1 |
| Axes | x0.2 |
| Rest of body | x1.0 |
Attacks. He is slow, so he compensates by vomiting acid onto the map, summoning minions that follow players and explode near them for poison damage, and pulling nearby players in for a bite.
Strategy. Break one armor piece to reach health, and focus only that area so he dies with the other pieces intact. Minions only stop chasing when they die or explode, so you can kill them from range to avoid the poison.
Tips:
- Keep your distance from both the boss and the minions, as poison drains health.
- If you have a movement ability, shove incoming minions and step back so they explode on nothing.
- The whole team should pick one armor piece and focus it; breaking all armor is unnecessary.
- He is the toughest boss, so buy strong weapons and stay at range.
Dr. Hans Volter
Dr. Hans Volter.
Story. Hans is more than a century old. His mad-science career reaches back to World War II, where he began research into human cloning and vitality. A victim of his own experiments, he now lives in a self-fed exoskeleton carrying assault rifles, grenades and claws.
Hans Volter characteristics.
Kill reward: 500 dosh. XP: 1291, 1694, 1790, 1843.
| Players | Normal | Hard | Suicidal | HoE |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Health, 1 | 5268 | 6084 | 6307 | 8013 |
| Health, 4 | 17121 | 19773 | 20497 | 26042 |
| Health, 6 | 25023 | 28899 | 29958 | 38061 |
| Shield phase 1, 1 | 487 | 803 | 969 | 1965 |
| Shield phase 2, 1 | 610 | 1004 | 1487 | 2457 |
| Shield phase 3, 1 | 731 | 1205 | 1785 | 2948 |
| Shield phase 3, 6 | 3472 | 5723 | 8478 | 14003 |
At 60%, 41% and 25% health he raises a shield that absorbs all damage and makes incapacitation effects useless until it breaks. Explosive weapons, particularly the RPG-7, do extra damage to him.
| Part | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Head | x1.2 |
| Chest core, back core | x1.05 |
| Arms, legs, rest | x1.0 |
| Claws | x0.2 |
Strategy. Each phase starts in Attack mode, using guns and grenades (he throws grenades whenever the cooldown ends). Dump damage on him while keeping distance and dodging grenades. Players in front aim at the head or chest core, players behind hit the large back core.
Tips:
- Keep a considerable distance (his machine gun needs no run-up).
- He combines poison grenades with claws or life drain (he is a vampire), so keep running and shooting with the team.
- Only start shooting after everyone is at full health, since after a certain health percentage he gets a fury phase and the only way to deal with it is to run and break his shield, which stuns him.
