KF2 Husk Cannon Weapon Guide: How to Use It and Why It Was Nerfed
This is a short, tongue-in-cheek weapon guide to the Husk Cannon, the explosive fireball weapon taken from the Husk ZED. It was written in mid-2018, when the cannon was considered extremely strong.
The Husk Cannon.
How to use it
The advice is simple: keep pressing the left mouse button. Do not fire while a ZED is only an inch away, because you will probably blow yourself up. According to the author, with this weapon it is almost impossible to die from ZEDs; you are more likely to kill yourself with your own explosions.
The author also thought the weapon was too strong at the time, and that its price and ammo price should rise while its ammo capacity should drop. In the stat list of the game, the Husk Cannon charges while you hold the fire button and discharges when you release it (see the weapon list).
Conclusion from the author
Keep spamming it, but avoid shooting at close range or you will regret it.
What the community added
- Firebugs with high resistance to damage from their own fire take less than 10 damage from point-blank shots. That makes it a good fit for the perk, while Demolitionists suffer more.
- A newer comment says the weapon was nerfed in the following patch and is now rather useless compared with the Seeker Six and other options.
- There was a short argument about the word nerf: a nerf is anything that makes a weapon worse, including lower stats or a higher price.
FAQ
- Which perk uses the Husk Cannon?
- The Husk Cannon is a tier 4 Firebug weapon, but any perk can pick it up and fire it.
- Can the Husk Cannon hurt me?
- Yes. Its explosive fireballs damage you if you fire at a ZED that is inches away. A commenter notes that a Firebug with high resistance to fire damage takes under 10 damage from close shots, whereas a Demolitionist is not so lucky.
- Is the Husk Cannon still as strong as when the guide was written?
- No. Commenters say it was nerfed in the patch after the guide, and that the Seeker Six and other weapons outperform it. Treat the guide as describing the weapon's early state.
