Heroes and the Grand Olympiad

The nobles' Olympiad, the Hero title and rewards

A noble (Noblesse) who scores the most Olympiad points in their class at the Grand Olympiad - a PvP tournament among nobles - receives the title of Hero, special weapons, skills and a distinctive aura. The system was introduced in Chronicle 4: Scions of Destiny (see Chronicle 4); how to become a noble is covered in Noblesse Quest.

Hero abilities

  • Hero weapons. Only the Hero can use them. Once you choose a weapon you cannot swap it for another, but after a month all weapons are automatically taken back and Heroes choose again. Weapons are issued by the Monument of Heroes; they cannot be dropped, sold, enchanted or destroyed. They use S-grade arrows, soulshots and spiritshots.
  • Hero channel. Heroes talk on a special channel (the % symbol) in a light blue font that every player on the server can see. A Hero can post in this global chat once every 10 seconds. Showing Hero messages is toggled with the Hero Voice checkbox.
  • The Monument of Heroes stands in every village - it shows who the current Heroes are.

Getting Hero abilities

When a character becomes a noble, the Noblesse symbol appears in the Status window; when they become a Hero, the Hero symbol appears. To receive Hero abilities, visit the Monument of Heroes. If you were a Hero before and became one again, you must reactivate the abilities at the monument.

How the Hero is chosen

  • Heroes are selected by their class ranking of Olympiad points over a month. You must fight at least 5 matches and win at least 1. The player with the most points becomes the Hero for the whole next month. The Hero is determined on the 1st of every month.
  • If you collected many points but fought fewer than 5 matches or never won, you will not become a Hero; sometimes a class has no Hero for the whole period.
  • If two players of the same class have equal points, the one who fought more matches becomes the Hero.
  • If the number of matches is also equal, the title goes to the one with more wins; if wins are equal, to the player with the higher win percentage. If the win percentage is also the same, nobody becomes the Hero.

Ranking

All nobles can view the top 10 participants of the previous Olympiad period. Those who fought fewer than four matches are excluded from the ranking. Only names are shown, without points; with equal points the list can contain up to 15 names.

The Grand Olympiad

The Grand Olympiad is a one-on-one competition for the title of Hero. It is held monthly, and at the end of each month the noble with the most Olympiad points is declared Hero. Only nobles with the third profession can take part.

How matches work

  • There are two kinds of matches: "class competition", where only members of one class fight, and "non-class competition" with no restrictions.
  • The Olympiad Master registers participants; according to l2db, matches run from 20:00 to 00:00.
  • Opponents are chosen at random and summoned to the big stadium. System messages warn about it 30 seconds before the summons; then the opponents get 45 seconds to prepare, after which the arena becomes a PvP zone and the match begins.
  • Before the match HP, MP and CP are fully restored and all buffs and debuffs are removed. Summoned pets are automatically returned to the inventory, and servitors and cubics disappear. Only your own buffs may be used; Hero skills do not work in the Olympiad. The winner receives a Noblesse Gate Pass.
  • If you are thrown out of the game (critical error, disconnect and so on), the match does not count. If the server suddenly goes down, the results are cancelled and players appear in the nearest towns when they log in.
  • A match lasts at most 3 minutes; the player whose HP drops to 0 loses. If both last 3 minutes, the one who dealt more damage wins.
  • A character whose HP reaches 0 simply loses the match and does not die. After the match a system message announces the change in points, and the opponents are moved to the nearest town.
  • If there is no opponent, the system notifies you that the match is delayed.

Requirements

  • You can only compete with your main class. You cannot enter with a subclass if you have already applied with your main class.
  • If the player is in a party when summoned to the Coliseum, they automatically leave the party.
  • You cannot compete without Olympiad points.
  • Only soulshots, spiritshots, Echo Crystals, energy stones and firecrackers may be used in Olympiad matches. Recall and Party Recall are also forbidden.

Olympiad points

At the start of each Olympiad every noble receives 18 points, plus 3 more each week. The loser's points go to the winner. You can check your current points at the Grand Olympiad Manager.

At the end of the period, a player with more than 50 points can exchange them for Noblesse Gate Passes at a rate of 1,000 passes per point. For example, 50 points become 50,000 Noblesse Gate Passes, while 49 points cannot be exchanged at all. Passes are spent on items from the Grand Olympiad Manager or on teleports at the Gatekeeper.

Watching the Olympiad

Matches can be watched for free through the Grand Olympiad Manager, found in every town. Spectators see the venue, the participants' names and their HP and CP. Each participant's window can be enlarged to show the skills they use and their critical hits. While watching one stadium you can also switch to other arenas without closing the first viewing window.

To leave spectator mode, press the Return button. If watching is interrupted by a server restart or for another reason, the player ends up in the settlement where they started watching. You cannot summon a pet while spectating.
