Subclass Quest

How to get an additional class

The subclass quest unlocks an additional class for your character. Below is a short step-by-step walkthrough.

Walkthrough

  1. To complete the quest you need to buy a Star of Destiny. Also buy Pure Silver right away.
  2. Run to Magister Ladd (Ivory Tower, 4th floor) and take the Quest. He says he needs Pure Silver. Press Quest again - he sends you to Magister Joan.
  3. Go to Magister Joan (Ivory Tower, 3rd floor). She says she needs a Sage's Stone.
  4. Go to Silent Valley and kill Chimera Piece until a Sage's Stone drops.
  5. Bring the Sage's Stone to Magister Joan, and she gives you True Gold.
  6. Hand the True Gold and Pure Silver to Magister Ladd, and he says you need to get Blood Fire.
  7. Go to the Lair of Antharas and kill Bloody Guardian until Blood Fire drops.
  8. Teleport to Ivory Tower's -1 floor, walk up to the Alchemist Mixing Urn, press Quest (at the end choose #3 Phoenix) and get Mimir's Elixir.
  9. Go to Magister Ladd and press Quest.
  10. Walk up to the appropriate Master/Magister and get your subclass.

Additional notes

  • In the l2dc database the quest is called Mimir's Elixir; it is available from level 75 and requires a Star of Destiny.
  • Pure Silver is equal parts Lunargent and Quicksilver; Magic Trader Wesley under the Ivory Tower teaches the basics of mixing reagents.
  • Magister Joan makes True Gold from the Sage's Stone; Magister Ladd once gave her some True Gold himself.
  • Only Blood Fire is hot enough to meld True Gold and Pure Silver; they are combined in the Alchemic Mixing Jar in the Ivory Tower basement, after which Magister Ladd explains how to use the elixir.
  • According to l2db (the "Character development" section): besides level 75, the Fate's Whisper quest (an A-grade weapon) must be completed first. Mimir's Elixir is the main quest; Supplier of Reagents from Supplier Wesley in the Ivory Tower basement is the helper quest that unlocks the Cauldron used to mix reagents.
  • Pure Silver formulas: 10 Moonstone Shard + 1 Volcanic Ash = 1 Moondust; 10 Moondust + 1 Quicksilver = 1 Lunargent; 1 Lunargent + 1 Quicksilver = 1 Pure Silver. You need 100 Moonstone Shard from Halate's Maid (3rd floor of the Tower of Insolence), 10 Volcanic Ash from Hames Orc Shaman (Blazing Swamp) and 2 Quicksilver from either mob. The quest requires brewing Pure Silver at 1 degree; higher temperatures on the intermediate reagents can yield more than one product but are risky.
  • Chimera Piece is a level 72 social mob near Giant's Cave around the Field of Silence; it drops the stone (Stone of Wisdom / Sage's Stone). Blood Fire drops from Bloody Guardian in Dragon Valley (DVC), and any party member may land the last hit. The elixir is brewed at 3 degrees.
  • After you talk to Magister Ladd the elixir disappears and you receive an A-grade weapon enchant scroll. If you drink Mimir's Elixir, you have to redo the quest.
  • The subclass is taken from the master of the chosen profession (Grand Master, Grand Magister, the dwarven blacksmith and so on). A new subclass starts at level 40; you can switch between the main class and subclasses in any village without limit. Once a subclass reaches 75, you can repeat the quest and take another one - up to three subclasses in total.
  • Buffs and symbols (tattoos) are not carried over when switching, and the wyvern quest (Sin Eater) is reset; watch your weight - after switching the character may be unable to move. Property, PvP/PK counters, clan data, recommendations, friend list, party, Seven Signs data, accepted quests, warehouse and inventory are kept.
  • Restrictions: an Elf cannot take a Dark Elf profession and vice versa; Overlord and Warsmith are not available as subclasses. You cannot take a profession similar to one you already have: Treasure Hunter / Plainswalker / Abyss Walker; Hawkeye / Silver Ranger / Phantom Ranger; Warlock / Elemental Summoner / Phantom Summoner; Dark Avenger / Paladin / Temple Knight / Shillien Knight; Sorcerer / Spellsinger / Spellhowler; Elven Elder / Shillien Elder; Swordsinger / Bladedancer. The subclass choice does not affect the Hero system.
