Killing Floor Event Content: Removed Seasonal Extras
Killing Floor ran a long list of seasonal events over its lifetime. The main ones can still be switched back on by editing .ini files, but some event content was stripped out of the game entirely and there is no official way to get it back. This page collects what was removed or changed. For the rest of the leftovers in the game files see cut content and revisional differences.
Potato Fools Day
Potato Fools Day was tied to the run-up to Valve's Portal 2. Several games took part in one large ARG (alternate reality game), each pointing to clues hidden in the others. The 2011 edition was the real ARG. The 2012 rerun was much simpler and only brought back smaller touches, such as the GLaDOS core trader and potatoes instead of money.
Character changes
DJ Scully glyphs
DJ Scully's backpack carried a glyph and a letter that served as ARG clues.
The symbol on the left and the letter "y" on the right were the clues.
Character descriptions
During the event every character available at the time had its description swapped for a random quote or cipher. The full character roster is covered in characters.

Potato
The Dosh pickup model was replaced with a potato. The potato model itself is still in use for the golden potato secret, but the regular potato texture is now unused.
The potato that replaced Dosh.
Portal trader
The Trader got a Portal-themed model, portrait and voice. The model looks like one of GLaDOS's personality cores from the first Portal, specifically the Anger Core, yet it talks in a bored, sarcastic tone.
The animated trader model used during the event.
The portrait texture.
The event trader had its own lines for every situation: shop closed, final wave, shop moving, wave almost over, wave finished, welcome, too expensive, too heavy and closing soon. The recordings can be played on the TCRF page.
Teleport hatches
During the event, KF-Aperture hid three welded hatches. Opening one dropped you into a teleporter that led to an observation room covered in writing about secrets. One room had "Use me!" written above a computer, and pressing the interact key there opened the Steam browser on a Potato Sack ARG page.
Every teleporter sat behind a door that only opened while a player stood on a Portal-style button, so someone had to hold it for the rest of the team. The rooms are still in the map today, but the hatches and the Steam browser code are gone, so you can only reach them with cheats. Now they only serve as zed spawn areas.
Achievement 132
Per the "Achievement132" thread on the killingfloor.ru forum (2011): an extra, 133rd achievement called "Achievement132" (numbering started from zero) appeared in Killing Floor's Steam achievement list, earned by 0% of players, while the game's Steam store page still listed 132 achievements. The message Steam users saw was written in ASCII codes (you can type a character with Alt plus a number, e.g. Alt+99, Alt+76, Alt+101) and decodes as:
cLearlY, there are no more clues to be found zero reasons
exIst to contiNue to lurch internally, surely, just "Googling around"
is beTter than "playing" fOr YOUr pure research
The capital letters spell LYING TO YOU. Thread members tied this to the ARG that started with the Portal 2 presentation; one of them believed "Achievement132" refers to the Baddest Santa character description, which calls the reader an "achievement whore".
Other additions
Icy_Murderous_I
Potato Fools 2011 added an Icy_Murderous_I.mp3 file to the music folder. It is Dirge's track Disunion, and the file existed to be used in Audiosurf.
stupidscience.guy
This archive was another piece of the 2011 ARG. Players got it through the Uber Tuber achievement (the teleport hatches). Walking up to the computer opened the Steam UI, which asked for the password failed experiments. Steam then downloaded a new DLC called Killing Floor Accessed Content, which contained only the .guy file.
Unpacking it gave several .tga images. Their transparency layers hid fragments of a map of Seattle, which had to be combined with images from the other ARG games. Tripwire never turned off distribution of the package, so players could still get the file after the ARG ended. The name "stupid science guy" refers to Security Officer Thorne's bio.
2010 Christmas zeds
KF-EvilSantasLair, the map released with the Twisted Christmas 2010 update.
The Christmas zeds are still in the game and can be turned on with ini edits, cheats or mutators. The 2010 versions were different, though: several textures changed later, and some voice lines were removed from their sound groups for unknown reasons. All of the recordings below can be heard on the TCRF page.
Santa Bloat
The 2010 Christmas Bloat had much paler colors and noticeably dirtier clothes.
The old Christmas Bloat skin.
The Christmas Bloat also had lines that were cut from later Christmas events or never used at all: Barf Attack 1, 7, 8 and 9; Death 3 and 5; Idle 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13; Talk 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9.
Clot Elf
The 2010 Clot Elf had much brighter skin and looked less frozen.
The old Christmas Clot skin.
It originally had many more lines, but most were overwritten with the normal Clot sounds. Unused files include Get Up 2, Grab Player 3B and 3C, Idle 6, Talk 3 and Talk 7.
Nut Pound
The 2010 Nut Pound was simply bloodier.
The old Christmas Fleshpound skin.
It also lost a fair amount of dialogue that was either removed or never used: Attack 1, Rage 2, Speech 1, 3, 4 and 5, Talk 1, 2 and 3.
Snow Husk
The Snow Husk looked the same, but it had unused voice lines: Pain 05 and 06, Talk 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 13.
Robo Santa
After 2010 his texture became less bloody and dropped to half its original resolution.
The old Christmas Patriarch skin.
Jack Frost
In the older version his texture lacked a lot of definition, so he looked less detailed.
The old Christmas Scrake skin.
Caroler
The Caroler looked about the same, only much shinier in 2010.
The old Christmas Siren skin.
2011 Halloween Sideshow
2011 had the first and only Halloween Sideshow. It existed because players wanted another chance to unlock Steampunk Mr. Foster. Tripwire did not know yet that the Summer Sideshow would return, so it built a "new" event: the Summer Sideshow circus zeds came back in Halloween costumes. The event never returned because it felt unpolished, having been thrown together. One of the developers (possibly BroodOverMind) simply said the Halloween zeds were ugly.
Not every Halloween zed got a name.

2012 Twisted Christmas
The 2012 Twisted Christmas update added the MoonBase map. The map is still in the game, but at launch it had a few Christmas decorations that were removed after the event.
A Christmas tree in the break room.
A Christmas tree in the greenhouse.
A candy cane in a dead scientist's hand.
A snowman on a computer.
Old seasonal title screens
Some seasonal updates came with their own title graphic. Twisted Christmas only ever had one and reused it every year. The current Halloween title keeps the graphic from the last Halloween update (Double Feature, 2014), and the current Summer Sideshow reuses the Hellride graphic. The older ones are no longer used:
2011: Halloween Sideshow.
2012: Hillbilly Horror.
2013: Summer Sideshow: Pier of Pain.
2013: Hillbilly Horror: Fright Yard.
