- 1.004 (02.07.2009): lobby chat; money updates in real time, including in the trader menu; melee weapons got an alternate attack; Bloat, Scrake and Gorefast attacks became harder to dodge; the Scrake, like the Fleshpound, can now rage when losing health.

- 1.006 (20.08.2009, Heavy Metal Pack): the AK47 and the katana, the KF-Foundry map, a burning animation for all monsters; fixed the Patriarch spawning near players. From this patch on, every update extends the map and mutator whitelists.

- 1.009 (29.10.2009): faster map loading; fixed 3 KF-Bedlam achievements, Dot of Doom and Mr. Perky (Mr. Perky was reset); fixed the exploit where a bought weapon was handed to another player who sold it for a lot; fixed perk descriptions (level 5 Sharpshooter gives the Lever Action Rifle, not Dual Handcannons).

Example: bugs in the Christmas update of December 2011
On release day of the Twisted Christmas 2011 update (8 December 2011, the one that added Ice Cave), players in the killingfloor.ru forum thread "Christmas bugs" reported:
- Buy any of the new weapons and drop it, and your carry weight dropped by 1 kg, which let you carry extra blocks.
- The second Desert Eagle cancelled the weight of the first, so two Deagles weighed 0 (before, one weighed 4 and the second added no weight). One player specified that this only happened if he already had a "Colt"; without it the pair took the same 4 blocks.
- In solo, closing the trader caused a lag of about 2 seconds and every dropped weapon vanished; in multiplayer dropped weapons disappeared more slowly. One player guessed it was aimed at people stashing spare weapons.
- For one player the Combat Shotgun fired one shell at a time.
Players expected a quick fix in patch 1031.
Version timeline 2010-2014
Below is what killingfloor.ru forum threads reported about each update on release day. The achievement lists for these events are in the achievement guide.
1016: Twisted Christmas 2010 and Hell on Earth
Per the "The Killing Floor Twisted Christmas Event 1016 version" thread:
- The Santa's Evil Lair map, 13 Christmas achievements (bringing the game's total to 130), Christmas zed textures, the "Bad Santa" skin.
- The Team Fortress 2 Pyro skin for owners of both games.
- The new Hell on Earth difficulty and balance fixes.
- On Steam the 250 MB content pack became available from 21:00 on 14.12.2010. Before release you could try the update by launching Steam with
-beta kf1016xmas.
Balance changes per the "List of balance changes" thread (compiled in November 2010, during the patch 1015.4 beta):
- Difficulties. Hell on Earth is the old Suicidal, and Suicidal now sits between Hard and HoE. Difficulty multipliers: Beginner 1, Normal 2, Hard 4, Suicidal 5 (was 7), Hell on Earth 7. Zed speed: 95%, 100%, 115%, 120% (Suicidal used to be 130%) and 130%.
- Normal and Hard only: you can break free of a Clot grab; the Fleshpound's "rage" is cut in half; the Scrake does not rage when his health drops to 25%; Scrakes and Fleshpounds have no headshot resistance and can be stunned more than 1 time. On HoE the Berserker spawns without body armor.
- Mutators. A new list of mutators that change gameplay without counting as cheats: your perk and its bonuses work, but leveling is frozen.
- General. Fixed double money after a wave and money being split evenly across the team. Grenade damage 250 → 300, blast radius 350 → 420. Only the Berserker can stun with melee weapons.
- Fleshpound: "rage" lasts 2 times longer, he attacks the player who actually angered him, head resistance 0.5 → 0.35, can be stunned only 1 time.
- Scrake: rages after losing 75% of his health instead of 50%, and now always does, head resistance 0.5 → 0.35, can be stunned only 1 time (a second attempt plays a different animation).
- Patriarch: melee attacks hit several players and knock them back; fixed hits on players standing behind him (a bug since 1015.1) and melee misses. Clot: a grabbed player cannot jump.
- Berserker: chainsaw headshot multiplier 0.3 → 1, attack speed 0.8 → 1.1, slot 4; the katana now swings automatically while the button is held, attack speed 0.75 → 0.67, damage +16%; machete 3 → 2 kg; knife damage 20 → 14, and it no longer takes a Clot's head off in one hit; damage resistance 25% → 40%.
- Sharpshooter: crossbow headshot multiplier 8 → 4 and only in a Sharpshooter's hands, weight 10 → 9 kg, max bolts 40 → 36; M14 fires 4 shots per second instead of 6, base damage 100 → 94, headshot multiplier 2 → 2.25; on HoE the 9mm headshot damage 140% → 40%.
- Medic: run speed −5% (+20% max), healing money multiplier 0.4 → 0.6. Support: double barrel ammo 20 → 15, max 46 → 48, starting ammo 46 → 24.
- Demolitions: LAW weight 14 → 13, damage 850 → 950, radius 600 → 500; non-Demolitions players carry 10 rockets, a level 6 Demolitions 20. Pipe bomb 800 → 1500, 390 instead of 56 at level 6, refill 195. M32 and M79 grenades cost 10 each, M32 moved to slot 4.
- Firebug: the MAC-10 got its own firing sound, burn damage reduced, slot 3; at level 6 you spawn with the flamethrower and body armor. Commando: SCAR damage 57 → 65.
1022-1023: Summer Sideshow 2011
Per the "Killing Floor Summer Sideshow Event" thread: no new weapons or new zeds. Added the Abusement Park map, new achievements, circus zed skins with new voices, and the Steampunk Mr Foster prize skin for 10 of the 13 circus achievements. The event started on June 30. According to the official text, the circus zeds are early prototypes made by Erroll Clamely, Kevin Clamely's great-grandfather: the Ringmaster (the Patriarch), his Stalker assistant, Pukey the Clown, a sword swallower, strange little Clots, a bearded lady, a two-headed girl, an ape man, a mechanical man and the FleshClown. The paid Steampunk Character Pack came out with the update.
1030: Twisted Christmas 2011
Per the "Christmas update" thread: the event ran from December 7 to January 4. The Ice Cave map: Horzine took over Evil Santa's lair, and he and his helpers hid in caves under the ice. The Christmas achievements returned, so Bad Santa could be earned again. Steampunk Character Pack 2 (Demolitions, Commando, Support and DJ Scully) and a Winter pack of 7 guns came out:
- Sharpshooter — the .44 Magnum revolver, also as a pair; Berserker — the claymore; Commando — the M4 carbine; Demolitions — the M4 with an M203 underbarrel launcher; Support — a semi-automatic shotgun; Firebug — the Husk Gun; Medic — the MP5 with healing darts.

1034: the Potato Event again (June 13, 2012)
Per the "Patch 1034" thread: as on April 1 the year before, money became potatoes and the trader became GLaDOS from Portal 2; the changed files included the KF-Aperture map. After the patch the Russian version could not join servers. Fixes from the thread: restore the old KF_Trader.rus_uax, delete it, or switch the client to English.
1035-1036: Summer Sideshow 2012 (July 5-23, 2012)
Per the "Summer Sideshow 2012 - 1035 | 1036" thread: the 6 guns of the IJC weapon pack, the Urban Nightmare DLC and another DLC character, the Hellride event map, achievements for the map and weapons, and another chance at the Foster skin and the Summer Sideshow 2011 achievements. On Steam the game first converted its files to a "new, more optimized format", then downloaded about 537 MB; the install grew by 230 MB.
1037 (July 25, 2012)
Per the "KillingFloor update 1037" thread: brought back the regular zeds in place of the circus ones. According to [TW]Yoshiro in the official Steam group, exploit fixes were promised for Bedlam, EvilSantasLair, Offices, BioticsLab and Abusement Park. The new event weapons stayed in the game.
1039 (September 20, 2012)
Per the "Killing Floor 1039" thread:
- Map fixes for Bedlam, EvilSantasLair, Farm, FilthsCross, Waterworks and Wyre.
- 3 new Halloween-style songs and static meshes for mappers (mostly trees).
- The menu gained a Downloadable Content screen, a "Game Type" choice in the server browser and a choice of modifications when creating a server or solo game; new options also appeared in the SDK.
- Number 1038 was skipped; thread members believed the interim 1037.1 had been counted as 1038.
1040: free and paid weapon packs (2012)
Per the "Все что вы хотели знать о Стволах версии 1040" ("Everything you wanted to know about the 1040 guns") thread:
- The update added two weapon packs: a free one unlocked in the game and a paid DLC. New weapons: the fire revolvers (dual and single), Trenchgun, Tommy Gun, MKB 42, the buzzsaw crossbow, the scythe, the nail gun and the medic grenade.
- The paid pack cost 99 roubles on sale; after the sale ended on November 6, 2012 it cost 199 roubles.
- You do not have to buy the pack to use these weapons: they will not be in your trader menu, but you can give money to someone who owns the DLC so they buy the gun and drop it for you; after that you can drop it or sell it.
- The medic grenade not only heals teammates but also damages zeds a little.
1042 (2012)
Per the "Обновление Killing Floor v1042" thread: it came out during the Halloween event, and the game updated from 1040 straight to 1042. The update made it possible to unlock the previous year's Halloween achievements.
1044-1045: Twisted Christmas III, Evil Santa's Moonbase (December 2012)
Per the "Killing Floor Twisted Christmas III: Evil Santa's Moonbase - 1044-1045" thread: the Moonbase map, 3 new guns, Bad Santa available again, a paid skin and a golden weapon pack. The two-handed axe was unlocked by an achievement in Dwarfs!?: in its free version you had to play "arcade" on normal difficulty for 30 minutes and collect 40 thousand gold.
April 2013: 1.7 million copies sold
Per the "Tripwire Готовят сюрприз для Killing Floor" ("Tripwire is preparing a surprise for Killing Floor") thread: in a pcgamer.com interview (published April 5, 2013) Tripwire Interactive president John Gibson said KF had sold 1.7 million copies and would likely pass 2 million by the end of the year; as of February 14, 2012 it had sold 1.1 million. Besides the seasonal events, he promised a surprise for 2013 without details.
1047 (2013)
Per the "Патч 1047. Откат 1047 - 1046" thread:
- Two new characters were added for the upcoming event, BANZAI! (thread members wrote that these were skins for Rising Storm buyers).
- Fixed a server crash under DDoS attacks.
- Fixed achievement progress on the original maps: Bedlam on Hell on Earth; Biotics Lab, Farm, Manor, Office and West London on Hard, Suicidal and Hell on Earth; Foundry and Wyre on Hell on Earth.
June 2013: Killing Floor: Calamity announced
Per the "Killing Floor: Calamity" thread: Tripwire announced not KF2 but a top-down shooter for the Android-based OUYA console (about 100 dollars). It was made by the Swedish studio Gaming Corps. They promised shooting, survival, familiar zeds and perks with special abilities, about two dozen characters, co-op for up to 4 players and new maps; the final name had not been chosen yet.
1048: Summer Sideshow 2013 "Pier of Pain" (July 2013)
Per the "Killing Floor Summer Sideshow 2013 "Pier of Pain"" thread: the Steamland map with a new objective mode where you escort and protect an NPC (the Ringmaster), 19 new achievements, the Patriarch's health shown during the fight, the Mrs Foster and Steampunk Mrs Foster characters, another paid golden weapon pack and a steampunk weapon pack (including a Thompson with a drum magazine).
1053 beta (2013)
Per the "Бета версия патча 1053 для Killing-Floor" thread: Tripwire put a test patch on a Steam beta branch without announcing it. You opt in from the Steam library: right-click Killing Floor > Properties > the betas tab; to roll back, just opt out of the beta. The game folder gained a fixed KF-AbusementPark map and a new FrightScript folder for mappers and scripters, the video settings got a new renderer mode (OpenGL), and the trader's weapon purchase screen changed slightly. A thread member noted that OpenGL could already be selected before by editing the config file by hand.
1054-1055: Halloween 2013, Fright Yard (October 24, 2013)
Per the "Killing Floor Halloween: Fright Yard! (1054+1055-fix)" thread:
- The Fright Yard map in regular and objective modes, 15 achievements, a chance to unlock the old Chickenator and Grim Reaper skins, last year's Halloween zeds, a new voice pack.
- The Reggie the Rocker DLC skin; 4 DLC guns (2 by Tripwire, 2 by the community): Seeker 6, Zed Gun 2.0, Blower Thrower and Seal Squeal; camouflage versions of standard weapons. In rubles the skin cost 99 and each weapon DLC 199; KF itself was 75% off.
- Trader: perk tabs (defaulting to your current perk), an off-perk tab and a favorites tab; you can buy the skinned (for example golden) or standard version, and the other one is removed; Fill Ammo buys ammo first, then grenades.
- Weapons: closed the exploit of passing on and selling on-perk dual weapons; some weapon pickups no longer give free 9mm ammo; level 5 starting weapons always sell for 200 and level 6 ones for 225; fixed some medic guns not crediting healing; the M4 pickup no longer gives M4203 ammo.
- Other: software rendering removed, beta OpenGL support added on Windows, wave info in the server browser and server filtering by the player's highest perk. Fixed Scrake headshot collision desync between server and clients; Medic levels 3 and 4 no longer heal as level 6; Scrake damage resets to the difficulty default after his saw loop animation; only one story item is thrown at a time, and a player who dies drops all of them.
- Maps: exploits closed on Steamland (3 spots), MoonBase, Icebreaker and AbusementPark, and the shop volume fixed on Biohazard.
- Known issues: standard zeds without meshes when added to the sandbox; a
KFMapEndTextures.utxmismatch between the server and a Steam client — deletingKFMapEndTextures_rusor switching the game to English helped.

First player impressions of the new guns (killingfloor.ru forum, "DLC 1054" thread, tested on HoE with six players): the medic's Blower Thrower handles small fry well, and an off-perk player can quickly kill himself with it. The Zed Gun 2.0 alt-fire, on a hit, confuses zeds (much like fire), slows them and increases the damage they take, and can affect several at once. It works on a Scrake only once, and a Support Specialist can kill a Scrake without taking damage: Zed Gun 2.0 alt-fire, then finish with the AA12 (a full-health Scrake hit only in the body takes almost the whole magazine). It works on a Fleshpound if you alt-fire twice in a row; it had no effect on the Patriarch. The demolitions guns were only tried on a test map, not in real games: the Seeker 6 fires miniature rockets that deal little damage but enough for small fry, and can fire all its rockets at once; the Seal Squeal fires delayed-action bombs that do not detonate on contact but stick to the zed.
1056: Halloween Event Rollback (2013)
Per the "Killing Floor Patch 1056 - Halloween Event Rollback" thread: the Halloween zeds went home for another year and took the Halloween (and Potato) achievements with them. Changelog:
- Weapons: fixed a bug that prevented dual pistols from being purchased when weight was almost maxed and the inability to pick up a second set of duals; modified the Handcannon weight; favorited weapons are now shared between wave and objective modes; Demo's initial pipe bombs sell for 0.
- Other: the Steam overlay appears after clicking on DLC content more than once; spectators no longer get achievements for completing maps; the Departed trader works correctly; FrightYard exploit locations fixed and collision refined; trigger lights fixed on DirectX.
- Balance (from the previous patch): the Medic perk weapon discounts were brought in line with the other perks and the Medic weapon prices adjusted, the discount text tweaked; Demo weapon pricing balanced: the M4203 is cheaper and the M32 more expensive.
After moving to 1056, ServerPerks 5.5 stopped compiling with this error:
D:\Test servak2\ServerPerks\Classes\SRHumanPawn.uc(85) : Error, Redefinition of
'function ServerBuyWeapon' differs from original in KFPawn
Proton advised making the function declaration in SRHumanPawn.uc match the one in the original KFPawn class:
function ServerBuyWeapon( Class<Weapon> WClass, float ItemWeight )
1057: Twisted Christmas IV (December 4, 2013 - January 4, 2014)
Per the "Killing Floor Twisted Christmas IV (1057)" thread:
- The Christmas zeds returned, and the Bad Santa skin can again be unlocked through achievements. 9 new achievements: 4 for each new map by difficulty and one more for a free skin.
- Two maps for the classic mode, Hell and Forgotten, both made by someone other than TWI. No new KFO map.
- A skin of Harchier Spebbington, the hero of The Ball: for owners of The Ball on Steam, or through the achievement "Не время для любви, доктор Джонс" (win a short game on KF-Hell playing as Spebbington or with him on the team).
- The event started earlier than the year before (then it started on December 14).
- Fixes: third-person dual handcannons had a 9mm mesh; weapons could be picked up for ammo; a dropped MK23 could not be picked up again; third-person reload sounds and animations; no explosion sound for Camo M32 grenades and no world mesh for Camo MP5M darts. Item descriptions now show in the trader menu; OpenGL users can toggle bloom and detailed shadows; official mutators use event zeds during events and work with low max specimen values in sandbox; Steam Workshop downloads on Linux/Mac no longer go to the wrong location.
- A thread member reported that the Z.E.D. Gun parts were back on the map, but the gun did not unlock and the related achievements were not awarded, either solo or on a server.
1059-1060: End of the Line (July 2, 2014)
Per the "Update 1059-1060 - End of the Line" thread:
- Free: the Developer's Map Pack — 2 Wave Mode maps, Siren's Belch and Stronghold, plus Transit for objective and wave modes; the Rachel Clamely character for completing Transit in Objective Mode.
- Paid: Neon Characters (DJ Scully in Voltage Blue and Mr. Foster in Magma Red) and Community Neon Weapons (SCAR, AK47, HSG and Kriss).
- A sale on KF and its content ran from July 2 to July 16.
- Servers: with custom zeds the server crashed with
playanim with no mesh; the KFCharFix mutator helped. On classic servers the console showedSTEAMSTATS: SECURITY CHECK FAILED - ../System/ServerColor.u, but perks still leveled.
1061-1062: Halloween Horror Double Feature
Per the "Killing Floor Halloween Horror Double Feature (1061-1062)" thread:
- The Halloween zeds returned; a new map, Club Clandestine, with achievements; a new official mod, Toy Master, with its map Devil's Dollhouse.
- DLC bundles: Character Pack Bundle (Outbreak, Nightfall, PostMortem, London's Finest, Steampunk, Steampunk 2 and Urban Nightmare), Premium Character Bundle (Ash Harding, Harold Lott, Chickenator, DAR, Mrs Foster, Reggie and the 2 Neon characters), Weapons Bundle (IJC WP 1, Gold WP 1, Gold WP 2, IJC WP 2, Camo WP, IJC WP 3, Neon WP) and Community Content Bundle (IJC WP 1, IJC WP 2, IJC WP 3, Neon Characters, Neon WP). Thread members noted that all of this content had existed for a long time.
- 1062 is a hotfix: Fleshpounds now spawn in wave games; Toy Master now properly launches Killing Floor from the Steam Library if you launch the Toy Master application instead of the game; the link to the new bundles was fixed. The update is required for clients and servers: a server does not show in the browser until it is updated. The Toy Master server files can now be downloaded with SteamCMD.
1064: the last update of 2014
Per the "Killing Floor patch 1064!" thread:
- A new map, Thrills and Chills Amusement Park (KF-ThrillChill), and 5 new achievements.
- Servers (and clients acting as servers) can turn on any season's event zeds with a
SpecialEventType=line in the[KFmod.KFGameType]section ofKillingFloor.ini; see Event zeds. - All event achievements were turned on permanently, and event characters and other rewards can be unlocked at any time; a case of log spam that degraded performance was fixed.
- MoonBase was updated to have the Zed Gun parts. Clients get the update automatically; servers need to trigger it themselves (it is an optional update).
