KF2 Simple Config Guide: Render Distance, Gore, FPS, Audio
This compact guide lists the INI values worth touching in Killing Floor 2 for visibility, performance, gore density and sound. All three files live in C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\My Games\KillingFloor2\KFGame\Config. Back them up before you start, and see the dynamic lights and texture streaming guide for related options.
KFSystemSettings.ini: view and shadow distance
GlobalShadowDistanceScale=1.000000- shadow distance. 1.0 is 100%, 0.5 is 50%, 2 is 200%.MaxDrawDistanceScale=1.000000- render distance with the same scale.
Lowering these gives frames on weak hardware; raising them to 2.0 shows far detail at a cost.
KFGame.ini: corpse and gore limits

KFEngine.ini: framerate, startup and audio
bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE,MinSmoothedFrameRate=22, andMaxSmoothedFrameRateset to your desired cap (or 999).bUseTextureStreaming=False- the guide says this fixes VRAM instability.- Intro movies: find the
StartupMovieslines and delete them, or simply changebForceNoMovies=FALSEtoTRUEfor a faster start. - Audio: find
MaxChannels(usually 32 or lower) and set it to 64 or 128 so more sounds play at once, which gives clearer positional cues.
Important: make the files Read-Only
After editing, set the files to Read-Only in Windows. Otherwise the game overwrites your custom settings on launch.
