KF2 Recommended Keybinding Layout for Faster Play
This is a paraphrase of a community guide offering one player's tweaked controls. The author does not claim it is the best, only that the default layout felt ineffective, and encourages you to build your own since remembering your own choices is easier. It is a good starting point. For methods of changing binds see the setbind guide and common binds in Killing Floor.
Weapons
The default slots are reversed because key 3 is easier to reach than key 1. A Berserker who mainly uses melee does not swap weapons as often as others, so the author sees only an advantage in swapping them around.
The tools (medic syringe and welder) are moved to the letter E to put them near the hand, a habit from KF1 where those tools were used much more often. Weapon selection is removed from the mouse wheel entirely, since it is too slow compared to using keys directly; this improved the author's performance a great deal.

Combat
- The grenade moves from G down to Alt so it can be thrown with the left thumb without taking a finger off the movement keys.
- The distant melee bash moves from V to X for faster bashing. The author normally picks the middle mouse button for this, but it was already used for alternate fire, so X is a compromise.
- The flashlight moves from F to Ctrl so F can be an action key. It takes practice, but the little finger reaches Ctrl easily once you are used to it.

Interact
The voting keys are untouched, since they are rarely used. Because E became the tools key, the Use action moves to F, which is close and often used by other games for the same purpose.
With the wheel no longer selecting weapons, dosh and weapon dropping were moved onto it. The author tried several keys before settling on the scroll wheel after realizing he had lost the habit of selecting weapons with it, and it gives both wheel directions a similar function.

Conclusion
Movement stays on classic WASD, and C works well as a toggle crouch key. The author notes some people prefer ESDF for movement in shooters, which may be worth trying if you are curious.
