KF2 SetBind Guide: Key Names, Commands and Example Binds

SetBind lets you rebind any key to a console command from inside Killing Floor 2, and chain several commands into a single key press. This guide by a community player lists the key names the game understands, the commands that are worth binding, and a few risky "experimental" binds. It complements the existing pages on useful binds, chat binds and drop-all-dosh binds.

Before you start

  • Back up C:\Users\<you>\Documents\My Games\KillingFloor2\KFGame\Config\KFInput.ini. Game updates tend to reset key bindings, and deleting this file is the way to reset everything if you break your controls.
  • Open the quick console with F3 or the full console with the tilde key.
  • Syntax: SetBind "<key>" "<command>". Use the pipe character | to chain several commands into one bind, and keep the quotation marks when you chain.
  • Do not bind the same key in the in-game key options and with SetBind at the same time; it causes a double bind.

Key names

  • Mouse: LeftMouseButton, MiddleMouseButton, RightMouseButton, MouseScrollUp, MouseScrollDown, ThumbMouseButton, ThumbMouseButton2.
  • Navigation: Up, Down, Left, Right. Letters A-Z, plus Comma, Period, UnderScore.
  • Numbers: One to Nine, Zero. Misc: Equals, LeftBracket, RightBracket, SemiColon, Quote, Slash, BackSlash.
  • Scroll block: Insert, Delete, Home, End, PageUp, PageDown. Numpad: Divide, Multiply, Subtract, Add, Decimal, NumPadZero to NumPadNine.
  • Special: Enter, Backspace, Spacebar, Tab, LeftControl, RightControl, LeftAlt, RightAlt, LeftShift, RightShift.
  • Not recommended: CapsLock, ScrollLock, NumLock, PrintScreen (no response), Pause (solo pause), Escape, Tilde (console key), F3 (quick console) and the other function keys.

Command examples

PurposeExample
Toggle run (now also in the game settings)SetBind CapsLock "GamepadSprint"
Hide or show the HUDSetBind Divide "ToggleHUD"
Change spectator camera modeSetBind Multiply "SpectateChangeCamMode"
Toss 200 dosh with one pressSetBind N "TossMoney | TossMoney | TossMoney | TossMoney"
Quick chat tauntSetBind NumPadEight "Say TAUNT PLAYERS"
Team chat requestSetBind NumPadNine "TeamSay REQUEST WEAPON"
Remove a bindingSetBind ScrollLock "None"
FlashlightSetBind 5 "ToggleFlashlight"
Screenshot modeSetBind NumLock "ToggleScreenShotMode"
SuicideSetBind ScrollLock "Suicide"

Each TossMoney throws 50 dosh. Quotation marks are required for multiple TossMoney commands, but not for Say or None.

Experimental binds

The author calls these borderline cheating, so use them at your own judgment: SetBind C "QuickHeal | OnRelease SelectLastWeapon" for a quicker quick-heal, a bind that chains GBA_DropWeapon several times with SwitchWeaponGroup 0 to drop weapons, and a "panic button" that drops most guns and 1000 dosh. It does not work while an undroppable weapon, such as the knife, is equipped.

Where to find more commands

The author points to the long list of testing and admin commands in the console commands testing list.

FAQ

How do I reset my keybinds?
Delete KFInput.ini in Documents/My Games/KillingFloor2/KFGame/Config; the game recreates it with defaults.
How do I chain commands in one bind?
Separate them with the pipe character and wrap the whole command in quotation marks.
