KF2 Mouse Too Fast: KFInput.ini Sensitivity and Acceleration Cvars
If your Killing Floor 2 mouse sensitivity is ridiculously fast and the pointer feels accelerated even at the lowest slider setting, the cure is a few lines in KFInput.ini. The author warns to apply the fixes at your own risk and to make backups.
Symptoms
- Sensitivity is ridiculously fast.
- The pointer feels accelerated.
Fix
- Go to
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\KillingFloor2\KFGame\Config\. - Open
KFInput.iniin a text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++. - Find and edit these cvars:
| Cvar | Change |
|---|---|
MouseSensitivity=x.xxxxxx | Set below the normal value. 25.0 corresponds to the slider at the very left (default). |
bEnableMouseSmoothing=true | Set to false (turns mouse smoothing off). |
ZoomedSensitivityScalar=x.xxxxxx | Set to taste. The scoped sensitivity is MouseSensitivity multiplied by this value. |
bViewAccelerationEnabled=true | Set to false. |
HorizontalSensitivityScale=x.xxxxxx | Set below the normal value. |
VerticalSensitivityScale=x.xxxxxx | Set below the normal value. |
- Save the file and make a backup copy of the edit.
Important note
Every time you open the Options/Control Panel in game, these settings are reset. Keep your backup and restore it after visiting the menu. Another approach is making the file read-only; see mouse settings fix in KFInput.ini for related methods.
The guide was updated on 25 March 2020 to be cleaner to read.
