Beat KF-Insurrection in KF2 Solo: Bug Workarounds and Console Fix

This page paraphrases a short guide about finishing the custom Objective Mode map KF-Insurrection in Killing Floor 2. The map is old and notoriously buggy, but the author says it is beatable. Important: the guide is for solo play only, and the author cannot promise it works in multiplayer.

The bugs

1. Invisible floors. If you explore too much, you can fall through invisible floors to your death. Stay focused on where you need to go; the rest of the route is not bugged.
2. A camera bug after a cutscene (the developer has already acknowledged it). Aiming your gun fixes the view.
3. The worst one: after you defeat the boss, the camera does not return to you and stays locked on the dead Patriarch. This needs console commands to fix.

The fix for the stuck camera

Open the console with the key to the left of 1, then enter, in order:

1. Enablecheats: cheats must be enabled for the commands to work.
2. Setbind p KillZeds: binds the P key to kill all ZEDs in the area, so you do not die while the camera is locked on the Patriarch.
3. Camera newmode <name>: use any name (the author used their own). This forces the camera locked on the Patriarch to switch to you, in third person.
4. viewself: switches that third person camera to first person, finishing the fix.

The author includes a YouTube video of a Hell on Earth Survivalist solo run (age-restricted) as proof it works.

Perk advice

The author finds the map surprisingly fun as Survivalist, though it can be troublesome with other perks. Berserker is the next best choice. They suggest sticking with Survivalist and starting with a melee weapon if you have the Melee Expert skill.

Conclusion

The author calls it a really good Objective Mode map and a missed opportunity because it was apparently abandoned unfixed. They have not tested multiplayer, but solo you should be able to finish it.
