KF2 Flashlight Helper: Auto-Toggle Flashlight Tool and Timings

The Flashlight Helper is a small community tool written in Java for Killing Floor 2 players who dislike manually pressing the flashlight key all the time. It turns the flashlight on for you in a repeating loop until you stop it. The original guide was posted in English and Turkish and promised a GUI version later. Because it is a third-party program, only download it from sources you trust and understand that such tools are not endorsed by Tripwire.

How it works

The program simulates the flashlight key press on a timer:

  1. It switches the flashlight on and lets the battery run for its full duration.
  2. It waits for the battery to recharge.
  3. It presses the key again, and repeats until you stop it.

You can change both the delay and the key. For example, if you would rather turn the light on when the battery is half full, you simply calculate that time and enter it.

Defaults

  • Key: F.
  • Cycle time: 17 seconds (recharge) plus 125 seconds, 142 seconds in total, after the July 2016 update. (The original English text lists 147; the Turkish text gives 142.)
  • Written in Java, so Java must be installed on your computer.

Flashlight changes in the patch

The author updated the default values after a patch that changed the flashlight:

  • Reduced battery drain: the flashlight lasts 2:05 minutes (it used to be 50 seconds).
  • Faster recharge: 17 seconds (it used to be 25 seconds).

Before the patch the original defaults were based on a 55 second battery and 25 seconds to recharge.

Notes

  • A commenter asked how the author had the Sharpshooter perk before its release; the answer was that it was the beta preview branch, selected in the Steam library through Properties and the Betas tab, and not a mod.
  • Third-party macro tools may be disliked on public servers; use at your own risk.
