KF2 Berserker Early Access: Crovel, Pulverizer, Hans Tips

A casual, opinionated guide to the early-access Berserker. It is worth reading as a snapshot of how the class played in 2015; for newer builds see the Berserker build page.

First waves

Use the Crovel survival tool (the crowbar and shovel tool) for the first waves. It chops through groups of clots, gorefasts and bloats well, but struggles against Scrakes, Fleshpounds and Sirens. With a melee weapon out you run fast, so use that speed to grab free ammo, body armor and weapons to sell later.

Pulverizer

Once you buy the Pulverizer, the big hammer with a shotgun inside, you can run around hitting light zeds quickly with the primary attack. When big ones arrive, use the alt attack (the shotgun hit): it instantly kills Sirens and makes Fleshpounds, Scrakes and Hans stumble. Used this way it kills big zeds very fast.

Why not the Eviscerator

The author says it uses ammo for every attack, does not stumble enemies, and the saw is weak: it does not kill heads like the Pulverizer. Verdict: never use it. (The author notes they were only level 4 and gave no perk advice.)

Fighting Hans

  • Get behind him while teammates distract him and hit with the Pulverizer's alt attack whenever you can.
  • You have high damage resistance, speed and bile resistance, so his gas hurts less.
  • Try to get him to go berserk on you and chase you with melee; you can block those hits and he stumbles backward, giving you and the team free hits.

For a deeper boss approach see Berserker bossing with the nailgun and Pulverizer.

FAQ

Which weapon does the guide recommend for Berserker?
The Pulverizer: its shotgun hit stumbles large zeds and kills Sirens instantly, so use the alt attack on big targets.
Why does the author dislike the Eviscerator?
It uses ammo for all its attacks, does not stumble enemies and cannot kill heads like the Pulverizer.
