KF2 Gunslinger Guide (Spanish Original): Skills, Playstyle, Weapons

This page is an English rendition of a Spanish-language Gunslinger guide. The author describes the Gunslinger as the class everyone wants to be: a cowboy with dual guns who needs precision, much like the Sharpshooter. Both can kill giants in seconds with a good headshot, but unlike the Sharpshooter the Gunslinger is far more mobile. Skill names below follow the Spanish translation used by the game at the time, with the English name where it is clear.

Skills

The Gunslinger is the fastest class in the game even without skills, but these help with aim and reaction.

Level 5

  • Steady (Inmutable): ignores the movement speed penalty when aiming down sights and sharply reduces weapon instability for perk weapons.
  • Quick Draw (Desenfundado rapido): reduces the hip-fire penalty, +5% movement speed and +50% perk weapon switch speed.

If you pick Steady and get bored of just aiming, try switching between aiming styles for fun, though that needs good aim. Quick Draw makes you a machine at short range and keeps you fast.

Level 10

  • Non-Stop (Sin parar): consecutive headshots with perk weapons add 10% damage, up to 50%.
  • Bone Breaker (Rompehuesos): perk weapon damage +20%, plus 30% extra damage on arms and legs.

Use Non-Stop to keep chaining headshots, or Bone Breaker if you hate Gorefasts (the author says it suits those who dislike rushers).

Level 15

  • In Line (En fila): removes the damage reduction when shooting through other ZEDs with perk weapons.
  • Quick Load (Carga rapida): faster reload with perk weapons.

In Line works best on closed, straight, flat maps where you can damage several ZEDs at once. Quick Load cuts reload time sharply and shows an extra stylish reload animation.

Level 20

  • Skullcrusher (Partecraneos): headshots with perk weapons slow ZEDs by 30%.
  • Smash Them (A destrozarlos): shots to the legs increase knockdown power, shots to the chest increase push power.

These two relate to the level 10 pair, and the author advises not mixing unrelated ones: with Skullcrusher you can face titans easily, and with Smash Them you turn any ZED into mutilated pieces.

Level 25

  • Lead Tornado (Tornado de plomo): in Zed Time you have unlimited ammo until it ends.
  • Fan Fire (Fuego a discrecion): in Zed Time you shoot three times faster than normal.

As in the author's SWAT guide, Lead Tornado is for when a Commando is on the team to help you spend less ammo, including on big ZEDs on servers with more than three players. Fan Fire is for killing all ZEDs in your view in seconds.

Gameplay

The Gunslinger is faster than a Berserker without skills, and about as fast as the Medic. Playstyle is quick reactions. Perk weapons are used as a secondary or, when dual, as the primary. The dual versions have a fire mode for short range (the default) and an iron-sight mode via alt-fire for medium and long range.

If you are bored, Steady lets you move freely and vary your sights by range, even per kill if you are daring. Quick Draw lets you keep your speed high while firing from the hip with the quickest recovery after hip-fire.

Weapons

The Gunslinger is a class with few slots, but its pistols can also serve as a secondary for other perks and may beat the 9mm in damage, magazine and reload.

  • M1911. Damage similar to the 1858 revolvers, but it differs in four things: reload, magazine, recoil and rate of fire, as well as penetration, though the last matters little.
  • Dual Spitfires. For the Gunslinger and Firebug; better on Firebug because of the fire effect, although they count as projectiles.
  • 1858 Revolver. Very basic at the start but lethal once buffed. Duals kill small and medium ZEDs with ease but have high recoil when using the iron sight via alt-fire.
  • Desert Eagle. Seen in almost every shooter: strong, high recoil but very effective. With Non-Stop stacked three times it can kill a Siren with a single headshot.
  • Grenade pistol. Not very useful for the Gunslinger; the author does not know why it was given to the perk.
  • .500 Magnum. The most expensive tier 4 revolvers (together with the AF), with the most massive damage as single or dual, killing giants and medium ZEDs in one to three headshots. A beast in expert hands.
  • HMTech 101. Shared by Medic and Gunslinger. The Gunslinger boosts the damage it deals, while the Medic benefits from its healing.
  • AF2011. The deadliest pistols of the game; combined with Non-Stop they are an accumulation machine and can clear hordes in seconds, but their recoil from the sight is very high, and their damage per shot is similar to the M1911 and the 1858.
