KF2 Gunslinger Weapons and Perk Config Quick Guide

This is a short Gunslinger overview from a Steam guide. It lists the pistols and rifles the author reaches for, in rough order of progression, and then a compact skill tree layout. The author considers the Gunslinger a more mobile and less boring version of the Sharpshooter.

Weapons of choice

  1. 9mm pistol. It costs nothing and you spawn with it. A few headshots kill small ZEDs, though Gorefiends need care.
  2. Dual 1858 revolvers. Better than the 9mm, and in skilled hands they can kill Quarter Pounds easily with the Rack 'Em Up skill. Tip: you start with two revolvers, which sell for 100 dosh at the trader. If you drop one to the ground and pick it up again, the pair sells for 150. That extra 50 dosh can help buy another weapon.
  3. Desert Eagle. The famous handcannon; no introduction needed.
  4. .500 Magnum. Slow rate of fire, high recoil and a small magazine, but extremely high damage.
  5. Sharpshooter rifles. Both are good, high damage with a good iron sight and red dot sight, but with a long reload animation. A Gunslinger can use them while levelling.
  6. AF2011-A1. The author's favourite: the closest thing to the KF1 handcannon experience, with low recoil, plenty of reserve ammo, high damage and a fast fire rate. It is a two-barrel handgun, so a 16-round magazine means 8 shots. It is rarely used by others, but the author recommends trying it.

Perk config

For an experienced player, the tree looks roughly like this:

TierPick
1st skillLeft or right, depending on the situation
2nd skillLeft (right if you are not used to the perk, or when the team is overwhelmed)
3rd skillRight
4th skillLeft if you took Rack 'Em Up, right if you took Bone Breaker
5th skillFan Fire

Community feedback

Readers were mixed. Several said the guide was too short and obvious, wanted stat comparisons, skill names written out and a buy order. One pointed out that Bone Breaker and Rack 'Em Up are level 10 skills rather than level 20 (the author's numbering refers to tiers in a different way). The author replied that the M1911 is better than the 1858 but not worth buying, and that the Desert Eagle costs only a little more and is the better step; a skilled Gunslinger can still use the 1858 up to wave 3 or 4 on Hell on Earth, or when Scrakes appear.
