KF2 How to Play Zorro: Berserker Katana Roleplay

This tongue-in-cheek guide treats Zorro as a playstyle: a black-clad swordsman who fights the Patriarch's army with a blade and good blocking. It is a work in progress by its author, but the build itself is solid Berserker advice. Compare with the more serious Berserker build and the other roleplay build, Kureo Mado.

Look the part

Pick any character that wears fully black clothing and put a black ski mask on as the Zorro mask. The author likes Reverend Alberts for his dialect and colors. A black ballistic mask also works, but the ski mask looks more like a Zorro mask. Optionally add a flashy skin for your sword.

Perk and skills

Play Berserker. The suggested skill tree is shown below.

Berserker skill tree choices Suggested Berserker skills.

Why these skills: blocking lets you deal huge damage without taking punishment, and the Zed time skill helps you carve through armies of large enemies. Dreadnaught keeps a large health pool, while Butcher and Massacre tear apart Scrakes and anything else during Zed time.

Enemies

Trash

  • Cyst, Clot, Slasher: die easily, come in large numbers. They cannot grab you, so they mostly just charge once an Alpha Clot rallies them.
  • Gorefast: a real opponent that can hurt an unprepared swordsman; its bigger brother the Gorefiend is annoying but great for triggering block skills.
  • Bloat: dangerous mainly in numbers or from behind when you run; stab it in the face in the open.
  • Crawler: attacks in groups of four, wears down armor and distracts you from bigger enemies, but is also good for block skills.

Mid tier

  • Siren: easy alone but dangerous when supporting a Scrake or other Zed.
  • Husk: a coward who launches fire from range; hard to approach because of the flamethrower.
  • Stalker: annoying, often blocks you and comes in groups of four.

Large Zeds and bosses

  • Scrake: the true opponent. Blocking its attacks both triggers your block skills and prevents big damage.
  • Fleshpound: dangerous when enraged, so block the rage attacks and tear it apart when calm. Quarter Pounds are weaker.
  • Hans Volter: keep health high and avoid his gunfire; his melee is nearly harmless if you keep blocking.
  • Patriarch: relies on his minigun, because his other attacks are easy to counter.
  • King Fleshpound: the laser and shield prolong the fight, otherwise like a normal Fleshpound.

Weapons

In the first wave do not use the Crovel; after that go to the trader, sell it and buy the Katana, which you keep for the whole match. You may also buy the grenade pistol from the Demolitionist category as a stand-in for a flintlock pistol.

Types of players you will meet

The author jokes about the lobby: the noob asking how to buy a weapon, the tryhard who attempts a votekick over "just a Katana", the Zorro supporter, the pro who does not care, and the server filler who says nothing and dies.
