KF2 HoE Objective Mode: Solo Strategies by Map

A solo Hell on Earth player shares how to clear the Objective mode achievements on ZED Landing, Biotics Lab, Outpost, Steam Fortress and Nuked. The author found these maps stressful with a normal survival style, then made them easy by switching to a Survivalist-centered plan. Level 25 perks are recommended. See also objective mode walkthrough and wave objectives list.

Basics

Do these achievements after you already have some Hell on Earth achievements: you should know how to beat the bosses, how to build perks and how to play them. Required perks are Berserker, Firebug and Survivalist, plus anything for the boss wave (the author used Gunslinger).

  • Most waves are played as a Survivalist with a Shovel and healing grenades, buying Hemoclubber first and the Kaboomstick afterwards.
  • On objectives with endless ZEDs, killing extra ZEDs earns weapons earlier. Hordes of trash are more annoying in this mode.
  • Healing grenade plus Hemoclubber makes life much easier; the Kaboomstick handles Fleshpounds.
  • Do not waste Dosh, look for ammo boxes and manage healing grenades carefully. This mode felt more Dosh-restricted than survival. Early waves should be played without armor.
  • Perk switching helps. If ammo or health runs low, run away from the objective to recover.
  • E.D.A.R. Trappers felt the most dangerous, and staying away from Bloats matters more than usual.

ZED Landing

  • Wave 1, Weld: Survivalist with Shovel and healing grenade. Use healing grenades to tank if needed, repair only when few ZEDs are around and keep Bloats and Riotshield ZEDs away.
  • Wave 2, Extermination: Survivalist.
  • Wave 3, Escort: repairs as in wave 1; healing grenades can protect the drone.
  • Wave 4, Escort: Berserker, who is fast and cannot be grabbed.
  • Wave 5, Defend: Survivalist.
  • Wave 6, Escort: Survivalist, same escort approach.
  • Wave 7, Operate: Survivalist, almost like Defend.
  • Wave 8, King Fleshpound: Gunslinger.

Biotics Lab

  • Wave 1, Defend: Survivalist or Berserker. Leave the area and kill extra ZEDs to afford Hemoclubber for wave 2.
  • Wave 2, Transport: Berserker.
  • Wave 3, Extermination: Survivalist.
  • Wave 4, Operate: Survivalist (the author once ran away to recover).
  • Wave 5, Escort: the usual escort plan.
  • Wave 6, Weld: easier than usual thanks to a shorter repair time.
  • Wave 7, Defend: abuse the double heal and use the Kaboomstick on Fleshpounds.
  • Wave 8, Patriarch: Gunslinger.

Outpost

  • Wave 1, Weld: as on ZED Landing wave 1.
  • Wave 2, Operate: Survivalist.
  • Wave 3, Escort: Survivalist.
  • Wave 4, Transport: Berserker.
  • Wave 5, Escort: Survivalist.
  • Wave 6, Operate: Survivalist.
  • Wave 7, Patriarch: Gunslinger.
  • Wave 8, Defend: Survivalist.

Steam Fortress

  • Wave 1, Escort: Survivalist.
  • Wave 2, Weld: Survivalist.
  • Wave 3, Transport: Berserker.
  • Wave 4, Operate: Survivalist.
  • Wave 5, Escort: Survivalist.
  • Wave 6, Transport: Berserker; play it safe and look for another way if something blocks the path.
  • Wave 7, Defend: Survivalist.
  • Wave 8, Weld: Survivalist; play safe and run away to recover if needed.
  • Wave 9, Operate: Survivalist, spam the Kaboomstick.
  • Wave 10, random boss: same as in survival.

Nuked

Nuked needed an adjusted plan; the author describes it as halfway between Hard and Suicidal, with waves 2 and 3 being the problem ones. As a Survivalist you will use the Kaboomstick far more here. Purchase order: Dragon's Breath, Hemoclubber, Kaboomstick.

  • Wave 1, Extermination: Firebug, kite and use ground fires.
  • Wave 2, Weld: use Dragon's Breath ground fires and a Molotov to tank trash while welding; weld only when few or no ZEDs are near.
  • Wave 3, Operate: weld all doors shut during trader time and keep them intact as long as possible (the basement door should break first). Use ground fires, Molotov and ammo boxes, and recover in the basement if needed.
  • Wave 4, Transport: Berserker. Deciding whether to tank outside is critical, and tanky ZEDs blocking narrow passages are more dangerous; retreat and find another route to the terminal when needed.
  • Wave 5, Escort: Survivalist.
  • Wave 6, Defend: Survivalist, spam the Kaboomstick.
  • Wave 7, Escort: Survivalist.
  • Wave 8, Hans: Gunslinger.
