KF2 Defense Spots: Burning Paris, Outpost, Biotics Lab

This is a translation and paraphrase of a May 2015 Simplified Chinese guide by Lids and collaborators. KF2 deliberately weakens classic point defense: broken doors cannot be rewelded, lights can be shot out, and short maps with many junctions limit your options. Still, picking good terrain decides survival. Here are the author's preferred positions for three early maps. Compare with a Russian-language map defense position list and HoE camping spots by map.

Burning Paris

Spot A: open ground outside the Eiffel Tower

Spot A overview Spot A, the open square by the tower.

Spot A second view Another angle of Spot A.

ZEDs come from all four sides, a classic surround, but each direction brings fewer of them, so clearing one side takes little effort. It is bright and open, and you can bolt if things go wrong. Most big ZEDs come from the metro entrance and stairs, so light up the metro mouth. This spot tests a team's ability to kite and handle chaos, and suits small teams. Always watch your surroundings.

Spot B: sofa corridor above the fountain

Sofa corridor The indoor sofa corridor on the second floor.

Corridor second view Looking down the corridor.

Corridor third view Position of the right-hand white door.

This second-floor corridor feels like classic KF1 holding. Weld the white door on the right and nothing comes from that side. Almost everything charges from the front, so with Support and Medic it is easy to defend. The corridor is long and wide, so team fire is dense and Scrake pressure drops sharply.

Because nearly everything arrives from the front, on wave 10 with double Fleshpound and a Scrake, jump out the window before someone dies, but do as much damage as possible first. Keep the lighting in mind, Medic armor repair and Support ammo boxes. Two Medics and two Supports are best.

Outpost

Spot: long outdoor corridor

Outpost corridor view 1 Outpost long corridor.

Outpost corridor view 2 Second view of the corridor.

Outpost corridor view 3 Third view with the vehicles.

A stable two-direction hold: open, bright and good against hordes. Most ZEDs come from the fork on the garage side, and one player can stay on the straight back path to defend and call out big ZEDs. Watch both directions even when a big ZED is on you. Vehicles block sight lines and ZEDs can spawn behind them, so station a Commando at the long-corridor side. Scrake and Fleshpound charges plus the vehicles tend to scatter the team or hide a big ZED spawning behind, so keep looking around, even in open ground. When it turns bad, flee towards the garage.

Biotics Lab

Spot: blood pool

Biotics blood pool 1 The blood pool room.

Biotics blood pool 2 with marks Red crosses mark where to hold at the start of each wave, green arrows the fallback.

About 80 percent of ZEDs come through the two doors on the first floor and down the second-floor stairs. The author suggests holding at the red crosses at the start of each wave, then falling back along the green arrows as needed.

Biotics rear area The rear area to fall back to.

Next hold the rear area for a while. ZEDs arrive from more directions there, so plan a retreat route in advance. A flexible option is to go around to the back stairs and up to the control room. When moving, the whole team must move together and cover each other, because narrow terrain makes it easy to get surrounded.

FAQ

Why are fixed defense positions weaker in KF2 than in KF1?
The author notes that KF2 weakens camping on purpose: welded doors cannot be repaired once broken, lights can be destroyed, and short maps with many crossings limit tactical options. Good terrain is still decisive for survival.
Which perks does the Burning Paris sofa corridor need?
Ideally two Medics and two Supports. The long wide corridor concentrates team fire, and Medic armor repair plus Support ammo supply keep it going.
What is the escape route on Outpost?
Retreat towards the garage direction when things go badly. The author also suggests assigning a Commando to watch the long corridor side.
