KF2 Social Norms: Unwritten Teamplay Rules for Every Player

A community-written list of unwritten teamplay rules for Killing Floor 2, aimed especially at Suicidal and Hell on Earth. Most of them come down to looking after teammates and not wasting the team's resources. Compare with the community etiquette page and the beginner basics.

Helping and sharing

  • When Hans Volter drains a teammate's health, heal them; if you are not a medic, run over and use your medic syringe.
  • Do not pick up a dead teammate's weapon to sell or play with unless they allow it; give it back.
  • Use the Support Ammo backpack at least once per wave, and at level 20 the Support skill gives +20 percent armor.
  • Use the Demolitionist's grenade supply once per wave, so you get a free grenade.
  • As Support or Demolitionist, open the trader from the edge of the buy zone so teammates can reach your supplies; otherwise their E press opens the buy menu.
  • In the preparation phase before the Boss wave, spend your dosh, and drop any leftover for teammates (default key B).
  • If your medic syringe is ready and not needed, heal teammates with it: you earn dosh and experience.

Weapons and perks

  • Do not use non-perk weapons as your main weapons. If you want a mixed loadout, play Survivalist. The medic pistol is the only common exception, if you have space.
  • Do not join a hard difficulty with a low-level perk. Suggested: perk level 15-20 for Suicidal and 20-25 for Hell on Earth.
  • As Medic your job is to keep everyone alive: check everyone's health and make sure the team is full before you start killing.

Doors and movement

  • Do not close doors behind you at random, especially during the Boss wave and when the squad is running to the trader.
  • Do not weld doors without a reason; you can block or trap yourself and others.
  • The best door combination is Support plus Demolitionist: Support rebuilds the door and Demolitionist rearms the explosive. Medic grenades can also pass doors to hurt enemies on the other side.
  • Start every new wave with full health.
  • Stay together, especially on Suicidal and Hell on Earth: the medic can heal better and you can save each other.

Communication and big ZEDs

  • Call out giant ZEDs when you see them; do not stay silent.
  • Always kill big ZEDs together. Do not enrage one if nobody is ready, and if one chases you, stay with the group instead of running away so they can help.
