Clan Levels and Development

Leveling up, warehouse, crest, titles, clan hall and castle

Developing your clan is unavoidable: as its level rises, a clan can take in more people, get its own crest, declare war on other clans, take part in sieges and form war alliances. The data reflects the clan system before Chronicle 5, with clan levels 0 to 5.

First decide whether you need to raise the clan level right now or whether the money and SP are better spent on more pressing needs.

How to raise the clan level

  1. Collect the required SP and money and meet the other conditions.
  2. Go to any Grand Master or Grand Magister.
  3. Choose CLAN, then UPGRADE CLAN.
  4. Choose the level you are upgrading the clan to.
  • Clan members cannot transfer their SP to the leader - the leader has to collect it personally.
  • You cannot skip a level: to raise the clan by 2 levels, upgrade it twice.
  • If the leader meets all the conditions (enough SP, the required money and items in the inventory), the message Clan have rised it's level appears and the clan level goes up.

Level 3 requires a special item, Proof of Blood. It can be obtained in Dragon Valley by hunting Bloody Queen. You can also buy it from another player if someone is selling, but getting it together with your clan mates will strengthen team spirit.

Levels 4 and 5 require special quests that involve the whole clan. Walkthroughs are in Clan Level Quests.

Clan warehouse

The clan warehouse is an additional storage, much larger than a regular player warehouse. Its main purpose is to store resources for the clan's needs. It becomes available at clan level 1 and requires no extra investment, since the clan has already paid a hefty sum to level up.

  • Items can be deposited at any Warehouse Keeper. The rules and fee are the same as for a regular warehouse - 30 adena.
  • Any clan member can deposit items.
  • For security, only the clan leader can withdraw items, so a dishonest player cannot run off with everything.
  • The leader can allow members to view the warehouse contents so everyone stays informed and can find what they need. The developers promised that in the future players could also be granted access to withdraw.

Clan crest

A crest gives a clan official status, and a beautiful one inspires envy and respect. It becomes available once the clan reaches level 3.

  1. Prepare a 12x16-pixel image in BMP format and save it on any drive, preferably in the root folder, for example C:\sign.bmp.
  2. Open the ACTIONS window, the CLAN tab and press EMBLEM.
  3. Enter the file path and press OK.

If the path is correct and the image has the right size and format, the crest appears for all clan members.

Titles

To give a title, target the player, open the ACTIONS window, the CLAN tab and press TITLE. Enter any text of up to 16 characters and press OK. To change your own title, target yourself and do the same.

A title can only be changed while you are close to the clan member. The leader can give the right to change titles to other members, but it is best to entrust it to a couple of sensible, reliable players.

Clan hall

Any clan of level 2 or higher can acquire a clan hall.

  • You can see which clan halls are up for sale at the Auctioneer NPC in any town. If any are available, the clan leader can place a bid.
  • Other clans take part in the auction too. The hall goes to the clan offering the highest price, provided it can pay that price.
  • To bid, the clan leader deposits the required sum. If the clan loses the auction, the money can be withdrawn.
  • A clan hall has a weekly maintenance fee that depends on its grade. The fee is paid at the Auctioneer via the Deposit option. If it is not paid by the end of the week, the clan loses the hall and it goes back up for auction.
  • You can walk to the clan hall from the nearest town, but it is easier to use a Scroll of Escape: Clan Hall, which takes you there from anywhere.

A clan hall is a refuge no one but clan members can enter. Depending on the installed upgrades, it can multiply HP and MP regeneration, give high-level buffs for free and offer free teleports to certain locations.

There are also elite clan halls that are almost on par with castles. They cannot be bought at auction: they go to the winner of a contest held every 2 weeks, for 2 weeks. A clan that currently holds an elite hall cannot take part in the contest. If another clan wins the next contest, the hall passes to it; if nobody wins, it stays with the previous owner.

Clan castle

Any clan of level 4 or higher can take part in sieges and try to win a castle (see Clan Wars and Sieges for details).

  • A clan cannot own more than one castle, but it can take part in sieges of other castles on either side.
  • A castle goes to the clan that wins the siege as an attacker, for 2 weeks. By defending it at the next siege, the clan gets another 2 weeks of ownership.
  • You can walk to the castle from the nearest town or use a Scroll of Escape: Castle.

A castle gives the same benefits as a clan hall, but that is only a small part of its bonuses:

  • The owning clan can set a 0-15% tax on players' deals with NPCs in the shops of the castle's town. The tax also covers special shops, blacksmiths and tattoo parlors. The owner of Aden Castle - the main castle of the continent - additionally receives a tax from all other castles.
  • Taxes go into the castle treasury. The clan leader can withdraw a limited amount no more than once a day, while deposits are unlimited.
  • A castle can produce its own items and sell them or use them for its own needs (this is tied to the sowing and harvesting system).

Running a castle is not easy: you pay for repairs to gates and walls, wages for mercenaries and guards, and upgrades. You can reinforce gates and walls, set traps inside the castle and hire extra mercenaries - their number is limited only by the castle's wealth.

  • Mercenaries are either stationary (they guard the spot where you place them) or mobile (during a siege they roam the whole castle looking for enemies).
  • There are 5 kinds of mercenaries: archers, pikemen, swordsmen, mages and healers. By strength they are ranked from recruits to elites.
  • The strongest mercenaries are very expensive, and to hire them you need to win the Seal of Strife in the Seven Signs.

Do not overinvest in defense: all your investments vanish after the next siege, and you will have to pay again for the following one. Assess your opponents' strength and your own resources realistically - you may not need extra defenses at all.
