How to Enable the Console in Killing Floor 2 and Join by IP
The Killing Floor 2 console is the entry point for cheats, debug commands and direct connection to servers. If the default console key does not work on your keyboard layout, you can set your own in a config file. This short community guide shows the steps and a quick way to join a server by IP.
Steps
- Open the folder
C:\Users\<YourAccountName>\Documents\My Games\KillingFloor2\KFGame\Config. - Open
KFInput.iniwith Notepad or any text editor. - Search (Ctrl + F) for
Console. You will find the section header[Engine.Console]. - Under it there is a line
ConsoleKey=.... Change the value to the key you want. The author bound the console to F4. - Save the file and start the game.
- In game press your chosen key and a black console window appears.
Joining a server by IP
Type open <the ip> and press Enter. If the server has a password, close the console with the same key and enter the password in the prompt that appears. Then enjoy the game.
Notes
- Close the game before editing the ini, otherwise the game may overwrite your change on exit.
- Most console commands other than
openrequire cheats to be enabled in a solo or hosted game; see Console commands list. - For key rebinding in general see Keybinds in KF.
