KF2 Weapon Duplication Bug (Fixed, Early Access)
In June 2015, during Killing Floor 2 Early Access, two Brazilian players shared a glitch that could duplicate a weapon on a server. The guide was later updated with a banner saying the bug has been fixed, and it is kept only as history. Do not expect it to work in the current game, and note that exploits can get you removed from servers.
What the glitch needed
- Being connected to a server (not offline).
- Two weapons that share the same inventory slot.
What the guide described
- Select the weapon slot by pressing
3. - Press
Xon the weapon that you wanted to duplicate. - Repeat the two steps quickly, without pausing. On a later press of
X, hit Backspace to drop the weapon, pressing it more than three times. - With luck, two or three copies of the weapon would drop, which meant the glitch worked.
The authors warned that it did not work on every attempt, but that repeated tries would eventually succeed.
Final observations from the authors
- They credited a friend for showing them the bug and said they were not the discoverers, just sharing it.
- The guide was meant to make the bug known so it could be fixed as soon as the next update came out.
- Use at your own risk was the closing warning.
Why it matters now
Early Access KF2 saw a stream of such exploits as the item and trading systems evolved. If you want to know how weapons and drops work today, see the weapon upgrade system and item drop rates.
FAQ
- Does the weapon duplication glitch still work?
- No. The guide author updated it to say the bug was fixed in a later update, and it was kept on the Workshop only as a record of how it worked.
- Why was it published?
- The authors said they did not discover the bug themselves and posted the steps to spread awareness so Tripwire would fix it in the next update.
